Islamic State Sotloff Beheading Video “Published By Accident”

EXCLUSIVE: ISIS Sotloff Beheading Video “Published by Accident” -- Vocativ

Video leaked accidentally—British jihadi tells Obama "I'm back", and warns of further deaths, before beheading journalist

ISIS released a video Tuesday of the beheading of U.S. journalist Steven Sotloff, formerly of Time magazine. The authenticity of the video, which took an unusually long time to reach ISIS forums, often the first sources for such videos, has yet to be confirmed. The video was titled “A second message to America,” and again started with footage of oratory from U.S. President Barack Obama, before cutting to a scripted anti-US monologue delivered by an emotionless Sotloff, draped in orange clothing (reminiscent of Guantanamo inmates) and on his knees in another arid hilltop landscape beside his executioner.

It appears from chatter on ISIS forums that the initial video release was an unintentional leak from within ISIS circles. An ISIS-affiliated twitter account (now suspended) published the video ahead of the prescribed time. Another ISIS-affiliated account, @Khattabyaz pulled them up on their error, but at that point it was too late, and the video was in circulation. The group then apologised to its followers for the lack of discipline in a text missive on Justpaste, saying:

My Comment:  I take solace in the knowledge that one day these killers will be held accountable for their acts.

Behind every rifleman in a Western style army there is a logistical tail of several usually non-fighters.

A terrorist group a terrorists group morphed into might not have as many logistics people, but behind the rapper executioner, there are several if not dozens of people in his immediate environs that encourage him applauded after the fact, gave him the authorization, and supplied him.

We know who the immediate executioner is. But if the war ended tomorrow and we only prosecuted Baghdadi and the rapper, a great injustice would be done.

I fear everyone of those people in masks would blend into middle Eastern or Western society if ISIS lost the war and would become a serial killers, gang members or some such thing. The percentage would be too high.

A few high profile trials is not enough. the clean up has to be systemic.

I don;t know how much we know but in Iraq we knew every tribe sub-tribe and maybe more including what land they owned. We were quite cognizant of their needs and were trying to build a civil society. We knew a lot of players. Were also had a big footprint.

Now our footprint is not so big. So we might get the rapper, but what about the guy butchering people in Aleppo like cattle with a meat cleaver? do we know him or is he going to meld into civil society?

For once we disagree - this man is very unlikely to be held to account, nor are his fellows, nor his superiors.

Our President is a feckless, criminal Islamism sympathizer that would make the Quislings ashamed. Western Culture has killed itself and now lies supine, waiting for our turn at the knife.

Yes, there will be a significant percentage who will still fight back, but the end is the same. Barbarism is on the rise only instead of being called Vandals or Visigoths, it's called Islam.

The only solace I can find is knowing that most of the Liberals will go first. Their Islamic masters need only so many toadies.

Orion,

If disagree with me that we will catch prosecute and carry out the sentence of the murderer of James Foley, John what ever his name is, I said we "might get" him. I feel 40% to 75% confident that our political leaders have that much guts and competency.

If you mean the guy from Aleppo, I have no clue. I am not sure how many people have seen the video of human slaughter house. Therefore, I do not know how many people care or care more than their government given swag.
