MOSCOW, December 22. /TASS/. The president of the United States is making a big strategic mistake by turning down Moscow’s invitation to attend celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. This way he openly demonstrates that he puts his ambitions above the globally recognized humanitarian values, Igor Morozov, a member of the international committee of the Federation Council upper house of the Russian parliament, told TASS on Monday.

My Comment: Even if U.S. - Russian relations were not in "the toilet" .... I doubt that President Obama would attend .... it is just not his thing. But even if he was considering it .... the conflict in Ukraine is still ongoing and with both the U.S. and Russia far apart on many issues .... any meeting would probably only aggravate these relations. My advice .... stay away and let the situation calm down.

On a personal note .... over the years I have seen a few Victory Day military parades both in and outside Red Square .... it is impressive.
