Pro-Russia Separatists Are Now Claiming That They Have Trapped Thousands Of Ukrainian Government Troops
L.A. Times: Pro-Russia separatists say they've trapped thousands of Ukraine troops
WNU Editor: For the past few days I have been reading reports on social media that a few thousand Ukrainian soldiers have been encircled in the city of Debaltseve .... but there has been no confirmation and/or reporting from independent sources .... that is until now. Victoria Butenko and Sergei L. Loiko from the L.A. Times have been consistently accurate in their reporting on this conflict and if what they are saying is true .... this could result in a shocking defeat for the Ukrainian army.
This may represent Kiev's last chance (I believe so) to retrieve anything of value, they are facing total humiliation, loss and disintegration in the western part of the country.
ReplyDeleteWhat part of the ward salient did they not under stand?
ReplyDeleteJame is right.
ReplyDeleteIf they want a federated system as a solution, they will have to get Europe, The U.S. (read Obama) and as much of the UN behind them as possible and make it very public.
That ship might have already sailed.
Also Obama is not interested in foreign affairs. it distracts him form domestic affairs.
Obama and foreign affairs is like Harry Reid getting whipped by his exercise equipment.
Both this article and Cassad do not confirm an encirclement at this time. Although it looks like it may be possible soon. BTW, the partisan sniping on this site can be tiresome. Does anyone think a Republican US president would act any differently? Say, John McCain? In my view it is Obama's failure to purge the neoconservatives from State that has in large part created this new Cold War.
ReplyDeleteLibya was a neo-conservative venture or an R2P one?
ReplyDeleteSeems like Bush Left Libya alone, when he had the upper hand. Gaddaffi gave up his nuclear program and his other WMD programs and the whatever neo-conservatives in the admin let sleeping dogs lie in Libya and did not kick them.
The U.S. pumped what was it? 5 billion dollars into Ukraine. That will take some looking into as to who they gave it to, what they expected...
While the U.S. is doing that George Soros has also been pumping money as well. Although more like in the millions but going back over a decade.
Neo-conservative is like a boogeyman of the Left along with everything else about the Iraq war.
Black Knight .... partisan political sniping has actually decreased over the years on this blog .... it was pretty bad when President Bush was in office. But it is true .... on foreign and national security issues there is far more agreement on policies than disagreement .... and much of what they do is to then frame it so that they can then appeal to their own constituencies and special interests.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a boogeyman. It's real. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century
ReplyDeleteVictoria Nuland is Robert Kagan's wife. This is not tin-foil hat stuff, Alzino.
I never knew that Victoria Nuland was Robert Kagan's wife .... now I understand where Kagan is coming from sometimes.
ReplyDelete"Commonly cited examples of liberal interventionism in action include NATO's intervention in Bosnia and Herzegovina; their 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia; British military intervention in the Sierra Leone Civil War; and the 2011 military intervention in Libya"
ReplyDeleteYes, Libya worked out well. It is better we had Obama at the helm than Bush.

I see you like table top games & other stuff. More people should try it. You learn a lot.
What is your problem with the Iraq War?
