If Ukraine and the U.S. are really allies, then the U.S. should arm them.

If the U.S. is an ally, it is in everyone's interest to "bring" everyone to the negotiating table and get a deal hammered out.

As the senior partner and having clout the the U.S. should do this.

The negotiated way is the better way to go (a federated system).

Apparently, U.S. leaders do not have the clout or the intent on bringing the actors to the table, Ukraine or Russia.

The US has no interest in a negotiated settlement in the Ukraine.
