Indian Prime Minister Makes Surprise Visit To Pakistan

CNN: Indian Prime Minister makes surprise visit to meet with Pakistani counterpart

(CNN)Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Pakistan for a surprise visit Friday -- a significant sign the icy relationship between the two neighbors is thawing.

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif greeted him at an airport in Lahore during his short layover in the city while en route to New Delhi from Afghanistan. Sharif was accompanied by his brother Shahbaz, Punjab province's chief minister.

Modi visited the official residence of the Sharif family in the Punjab town of Raiwind for impromptu talks expected to last two hours.

It's the first time an Indian prime minister has visited Pakistan in almost 12 years.

  1. WNU,
    ": Something is brewing."
You've got that right. The next 4 months may be the most significant months since the late 1700's.

  3. This is probably to form some kind of temporary cooperation against a common foe. Nations do this sort of thing all the time. The common enemy may be the Taliban. Also, I'm sure ways the two countries can work together to undermine America and it's interests were and will be discussed. This sort of thing is always at or near the top of the agenda.

If the prinary focus is undermining of America, the meeting would not need to be a surprise. This kind of yhing can easily be done in the open with minimal to no risk along with huge upside potential. As such, the primary focus is something else, however, this sort of thing will almost certainly be discussed when leaders of this type meet.

US leaders would be wise to understand this, try and ascertain what moves India and Pkistan have planned to take against us, and plan accordingly.
