Euronews: Syria: Assad pays rare frontline visit
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has paid a rare visit to the frontline of the country’s civil war.
Filmed in a Damascus suburb on Sunday at an air base recently recaptured by government forces, Assad was seen touring several positions and talking with government troops.
Now in it’s firth year, the Syrian conflict, which began as an uprising against Assad’s rule, has killed more than 250,000 people and displaced 11 million others.
The footage, broadcast on pro-government channel Syrian TV, also showed Syria’s President breaking fast with troops, who continue to fight during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
