Micah Zenko, Council on Foreign Policy: The (Not-So) Peaceful Transition of Power: Trump’s Drone Strikes Outpace Obama
As a candidate, President Donald Trump was deeply misleading about the sorts of military operations that he would support. He claimed to have opposed the 2003 Iraq War when he actually backed it, and to have opposed the 2011 Libya intervention when he actually strongly endorsed it, including with U.S. ground troops. Yet, Trump and his loyalists consistently implied that he would be less supportive of costly and bloody foreign wars, especially when compared to President Obama, and by extension, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This might be true, but nonetheless the White House is considering deploying even more U.S. troops to Syria, loosening the rules of engagement for airstrikes, and increasing the amount of lethal assistance provided to Syrian rebel groups.

WNU Editor: Too early to say where this trend is going. The 20 drone strikes that were committed yesterday has blown up these numbers .... and these drone strikes appear to be a fall-out from last month's US Navy SEAL raid against Al Qaeda in Yemen .... a raid that was originally planned during President Obama's administration.
It is war if enemy deaths are not outpacing enemy recruitment training then you are losing the war. If you are losing the war you either need to step up or step out, otherwise you are just buying time till one or the other options become inevitable.
ReplyDeleteThis idea of PC WAR needs to be ended killed. The only thing it has gained US is more war because risk is left for both sides and worse once engaged it has denied US victory while making Forever war. Casualties on bothsides is increased and suffering of both sides is increased exponentially due to that never ending duration.
The Left is so upset with drones.
ReplyDeleteI can understand why. They 1st casualty of a drone attack was an American.
This American was a Democrat.
He was the golden child.
That would be Joe Kennedy Jr.

Joe's father said he would be president before he was born.
Drone warfare is 73 years old.
C-Low is correct, "step-up or step-out".
Like a former operator and now commentator said at https://sofrep.com/, if you have not defeated the enemy in 3 years you are training them.
...
That lousy M___er trained them for 8 years.
So since the enemy hasn't defeated us yet does this mean they are training us? C-Low is correct couldn't have put this any better myself.
ReplyDeleteC-Low,
ReplyDeleteI hardly could have said it better. I remember someone telling me "If you're not defeating them you're training them".
