Still not possible to open Incirlik base to Germany: Turkey minister

Turkey's foreign minister said on Tuesday it is not possible to allow German lawmakers to visit troops stationed at Turkey's Incirlik air base now, although Ankara might reconsider if it saw "positive steps" from Berlin.

Mevlut Cavusoglu also said the issue would be discussed with German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel, who is due to visit Turkey on Monday. Ties between the NATO allies deteriorated sharply in the run-up to Turkey's April 16 referendum that handed President Tayyip Erdogan stronger presidential powers.

Turkey has prevented German lawmakers from visiting the roughly 250 troops stationed at Incirlik as part of the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State, saying that Berlin needs to improve its attitude first.

  1. Erdogan and Merkel trying to walk the same tightrope. Each desperate not to fall off, but both not realizing the rope has no end.

  2. My Dearest Recep:

It has been some time since you watched me drink beer while you glared at me with religious disdain. During that time we certainly have had some fun. I built the one of the strongest economies in the world and you deftly guided Turkey back into the dark ages. You have practiced killing, jailing, and isolating your citizens while my people have grown more wealthy and happy.

Your skill at overturning the legacy of Ataturk with true Turkish cruelty sets a standard that is hard to meet.

If you refuse to let my people visit Turkish bases with German troops, we will bring them home and ship them East to meet the real threat.

Best of luck driving your wonderful country into the dark hole of religion you so desperately want to see out of your 500 room palace.

    Best...Angela

P.S. You will not have the hard currency to pay for your fuel in the near future so make sure to turn out the lights.

You clearly have an identity crisis going on.

Perhaps getting out of the skirt might help, and putting the wig down. Also, those pillows gotta go.

  6. Dear Plowman:

Mel Brooks said it best. Poke fun at ridiculous people and leaders because their skins are so thin and their causes so wrong.

For comedy, how could anybody be more ridiculous than Erdogan and Turkey. The educated part of Turkey is smart, polite, energetic and productive. The fundamentalist part you would recognize had you been on a Crusade. We have now watched a democratic country vote itself into a dictatorship. It is so sad that it is funny.

What is even more tragic and funny is how America's conservative voting population acts more like fundamentalist Turks than the framers of the Constitution and are enhancing America's new third world status as a failed state.

Rock on freedom loving freedom lovers as you tear the Constitution into shreds and your democracy in Putinland.

    Спасибо.
