New York Times: Pakistan Strikes Deal With Islamist Protesters in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistan’s government struck a deal on Monday with leaders of a fundamentalist Islamist protest movement, saying that the country’s law minister would step down in return for an end to demonstrations that had brought violent clashes and paralyzed the Pakistani capital for weeks.
The embattled law minister, Zahid Hamid, whom protesters had accused of blasphemy, resigned as part of negotiations overseen by Pakistan’s military, officials said.
Public anger over the protest’s disruption of Islamabad, the capital, had been growing by the day, and the agreement was widely seen as another in a string of capitulations by the government to religious extremists who command growing popularity in Pakistan.

WNU Editor: It is a sad day for Pakistan when the state surrenders to extremists. These bigots are not going to stop with just the resignation of the justice minister.

ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of that going around.
The City of Olympia surrendered to Liberals / Democrats.
"Among the protestors' demands is that the rail line no longer be used to transport fossil fuels or anything that's part of "military infrastructure." They are demanding "democratic" control of the port by the community as a whole"

DeleteGame, Set, Match. It is good that this stuff is coming out in the open dispelling the illusions of many people, at least those who see.
ReplyDeleteAh smith and the liberals. Are they in charge of Pakistan

Fred,
ReplyDeleteI drew a comparison.
There is a lot of surrendering going on. That is the tie in. There is a lot of surrendering by authorities in various jurisdictions to radicals. Liberals are radicals. Now debate that and I'll tell you and show everyone that you stepped into it with both feet. Go on.
Let's go further. If liberals can deny Union Pacific free passage, then I can deny a liberal food, water, electricity or gasoline if I own a public accommodation. If the law has so broken down that libs can pull this crap in Olympia, as Evergreen State College, or with pipeline transit (Emily Johnston), then I can deny the gas for their cars or anything else. They are not the only peeps with causes or with morals.
Union Pacific is not an academic subject. I can trace some of their their mainlines fro where I was born to where I live and it is the same line across several states. The line named cities. There is only one mode of transportation cheaper than rail. We could not have as many people alive in this country without rail and these people are shitting all over that gift. Debate that I will prove it to you.
Jay, so happy our hideous national nightmare is over. Thanks for the reminder.
