Looking at latest decisions of @realDonaldTrump someone could even think: with friends like that who needs enemies. But frankly, EU should be grateful. Thanks to him we got rid of all illusions. We realise that if you need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of your arm.— Donald Tusk (@eucopresident) May 16, 2018
Reuters: EU's Tusk says with friends like Trump, who needs enemies?
OFIA (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump has "rid Europe of all illusions" by quitting the Iran nuclear deal and seeking trade disputes, the European Union chairman said on Wednesday, underlining the depth of transatlantic discord.
The EU's 28 leaders are gathering in the Bulgarian capital for a dinner discussion on Wednesday on how to salvage the Tehran accord and European business dealings with Iran, from Trump's sanctions to how to avoid a trade war in an escalating tariff dispute with the United States.
Tusk said the EU must be more united than ever before to face off against Trump's "capricious assertiveness".

WNU editor: One can say the same thing about European Council President Donald Tusk .... with a friend like Musk, 'who needs enemies?' But truth be told .... everyone is looking for their own interests, and the Europeans are well aware that many of the advantages that they have had with the U.S. are not only slipping away, but their options to respond are limited (i.e. Iran nuclear deal). I mean .... who is more important to Europe .... Iran or the U.S.? In a normal world the EU would drop the Iranians without any hesitation .... but in this upside world .... dealing with a corrupt theocracy that is engaged in multiple conflicts while supporting terror groups and running an economy whose currency has just crashed is more preferable to the EU than the U.S.. But this is exactly what European Council President Donald Tusk and his colleagues are thinking.

Corrupt Iran or corrupt usa that bullies the world,, has no regard for law. Has put over 6 countries in the middle East in chaos. My choice is easily made
ReplyDeleteIt's Trump derangement syndrome in action. Those people really can't stand him on a personal level, he's an affront to them so they go public with their contempt....nothing new over the last couple years. Now it's like a race to blast him in public.
ReplyDeleteAll they are doing is souring Trump voters, near 50% of the voters in America and they do know about these sorts of comments. Contempt from leading Germans, French, British, Swedes, Belgians and it is acid to the bonds formed 60 years ago.
Alas, this site has somewhat degenerated over months and become a Trumpanista cheer squad, booing and hissing all who are disgusted by Orange Julius, pussy grabbing tyrant
ReplyDeleteWNU editor, are you serious?
ReplyDeleteMaybe, maybe, some of the EU nations (aside my Italy, with his servant political class) do not want involved more in suicidal wars.
Maybe, not sure, some of those "so called" leaders have learned something.
Iran has called for the extermination of Israel. Europe should have learned from its history that people who say these things end up causing a lot of harm.
