David A. Love, CNN: Russian bots are using #WalkAway to try to wound Dems in midterms
The recent announcement that 12 Russian nationals have been indicted by Robert Mueller for hacking the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 election is another reminder of how vulnerable our democracy is to such breaches.
The indictments charge that via hacking, phishing attacks, money laundering and interference on multiple other fronts, Russian officials worked to sabotage Hillary Clinton's campaign. This arguably helped conservative efforts to usher Donald Trump into the presidency.
During the US-Russia summit Monday in Helsinki, Trump sided with Russian President Vladimir Putin and accepted his denial that Russia interfered with the election.
Now, in this 2018-midterm election season, as some predict a blue wave of resistance to Trump, his policies and alarming authoritarianism, Republicans want to split up the Democratic political opposition and divide black and Latino voters. And Russia looks like it wants to help here, too. But this time it won't work.

WNU Editor: According to the above writer the idea that any Black or Hispanic voter who wants to walk away from the Democrat is ridiculous .... that if they do so it will because of a Russian bot program. Really?!?!?! It looks like the Democrats are looking for excuses on why there will be no "Blue-Wave" in this year's mid-term election.
The Dems are already setting up the push that when they lose the midterms, it'll be because Trump and his Russian cronies stole ANOTHER election.
ReplyDeleteThe Helsinki is all the "proof" they need. They've convinced themselves anyway. This Russian shrieking will continue throughout Trump's terms. Maybe even forever.
But I think blow back has already begun to be felt over the crazy, over the top tone of most progressives - media and pol.
there are facts, evidence...and then there is bullshit
ReplyDeleteguess what we have here
Does this mean that all the intel people, appointed by Trump are wrong, lying and you and Trump are right?
ReplyDeleteWhere are the intel appointed by Trump getting their information? Most likely they are getting it from the people already there. The people already there don't exactly have a stellar track record. Frankly if it were a private enterprise US intel probably would have been defunct long, long ago.
ReplyDeleteWithout inside information in real time I cannot "know" what the right answer is. With that said even with inside real time information different people can still reach different conclusions!!
When presented with conflicting information, whom do we trust? Admittedly its a judgment call. In this case, I would be inclined to trust the judgment of POTUS over US Intelligence.
ReplyDeleteB.Poster, after VN, I would never trust the shiney shoed, can do sir! set. Gimme the dirty boots crowd. They've been there and seen the elephant. Doing so might have kept us out of that quagmire and others.
As for the dims and similars and their unbelieveable behavior, their dynamic seems to be "If you can't convince them, confuse them". They seem to be mostly impacting themselves.
Agreed. Trump seems to have a decent eye for reality unlike the 8 years of the prior self admiring crowd before him. I'll go with him initially and when the dust settles make my final synopsis.
B. Poster,
ReplyDeleteYou're getting a lot of love from Anon. Be careful he's real real smart and knows a lot of important people, according to him.
Roger,
ReplyDeleteWell spoken. The last two sentences are essentially spot on.
Anon (last post),
When replying to anon, I have to specify which anon. Lol!! I do seem to be getting allot of love from him/her of late, must've hit a nerve. Lol!! Actually I've revealed my real name and how to find out more about me numerous times. It's growing tiresome.
Bottom line: when the position is weak, attack the messenger!! Now according to the third anonymous poster here someone who states the obvious that we need to engage one of the world's most powerful countries and its leadership is somehow a "lackey" is "stupid" themselves. Did ideology make them stupid? They will need to answer that. What is certain is a public dressing down of the Russian leader isn't going to be helpful. I am glad we have a POTUS who is grounded in such common sense.
Off topic: "was the soccer ball bugged?" A friend and I asked this question. We were joking!! Unfortunately some idiots in the US government actually believed it could be bugged. Of course it is going to be checked as a matter of course. With nothing to gain and much to lose by doing so, of course it wasn't bugged!! What manner of idiot would run to a microphone and suggest it might have been? None other than a US Congress person!!
