New York Times: Trump Engaged in Suspect Tax Schemes as He Reaped Riches From His Father

The president has long sold himself as a self-made billionaire, but a Times investigation found that he received at least $413 million in today’s dollars from his father’s real estate empire, much of it through tax dodges in the 1990s.

President Trump participated in dubious tax schemes during the 1990s, including instances of outright fraud, that greatly increased the fortune he received from his parents, an investigation by The New York Times has found.

Mr. Trump won the presidency proclaiming himself a self-made billionaire, and he has long insisted that his father, the legendary New York City builder Fred C. Trump, provided almost no financial help.

But The Times’s investigation, based on a vast trove of confidential tax returns and financial records, reveals that Mr. Trump received the equivalent today of at least $413 million from his father’s real estate empire, starting when he was a toddler and continuing to this day.

Update #2: Trump was 'earning' $200,000 a year aged THREE and got $413 MILLION from his father, not the $1 million loan he claimed, reveals massive trove of family's secret tax and bank documents - which New York State says they will investigate (Daily Mail)

WNU Editor: Apparently the New York Times has been working on this story for over a year .... and (surprise surprise) there is no mention of Russia in this New York Times report . So much for the claims that we have been hearing for two years that President Trump's wealth came from Russian sources. As to the New York Times report itself .... I know through my brother the lengths that the IRS will go through a person's tax forms and financial interests. To put it bluntly .... they are very thorough. President Trump has been a well known public figure for 40 years, and his dad before him. I am sure the IRS have checked their financial books and wealth numerous times. If they found something inappropriate, it would have been raised a long time ago. So why the New York Times is coming out right now with a story that President Trump committed tax fraud .... I leave it to you .... the reader .... to figure that one out.

Update #3: Not surprised to hear that this may happen .... Trump Lawyer Warns New York Times of Tax Story ‘Defamation,’ ‘Substantial Liability’ (CNS News).

  1. The odds of a NYT newsman having the financial sophistication to parse his returns are low. The odds they have accurate files on his tax returns are lower.

tip: if the Dems take over the House, Trump's full tax records will be made available...then we shall see
tip: you lie or make up stories in the press then you can be sued. Let us see on this issue if the paper does get sued

  3. As an income tax accountant and a Certified Public Accountant in the United States who has been an income tax accountant for many years, I can confirm that what you learned through your brother is fully accurate. For "high net worth" people they are extremely thorough and would have found any discrepancies and/or fraud long, long ago. At a minimum. the odds of them NOT finding such fraud would have been so infinitesimally low as to not even be worth calculating.

  6. It's just the latest bird feed for all the parrots out there to take up and narrate all over without using their little bird brains. They'll tell themselves "now we've got him" and don't seem to notice it's the fiftieth thing Trump supposedly has done. They keep believing it. Poor little parrots.

But hey. .it excites them..they feel good. Every morning they check over a coffee what to hate about republicans and trump. Kavanaugh is an evil man and gang rapist and Trump is an evil man, family separator, tyrant and mentally challenged - all while MAGAING. Haha those dumb, dumb birds

Because you never fail to lap it up. You are so easy.

  11. If what you mention at 5:19 PM wasn't so political, Fred, you'd be right.
Having dealt with errors on the part of the IRS lately, orderly is to be commended, so is competence, but Feinstein's political timing on this SCOTUS issue....no. Sleaze.

    1. As an income tax accountant and a CPA, I can relate to dealing with IRS errors. They can take many months to fix and the process can be extremely frustrating.

I was referring to the IRS personnel who work with "high net worth" situations. These are generally very efficient and thorough. While I wouldn't speak for the editor, I think this is who he and his brother were referring to.

  12. If you take the time to read the full report you will know the State of NY has begun looking into some 400 million dollars of taxes that will be owed to NY...Even Orin Hatch now states this is a real issue...
