8 versus 24 is stupid.

A cruise missile has got to slow down a plane more than an air to air missile.

Usually you send a package, which has jamming, fighter cover, and bombers plus maybe a command and control.

The Paks were always going to see these planes coming. So 8 to 24 is stupid.

It shows the lack of conviction of the Indian leaders. They did not want to risk too much. It shows the incompetence of the Paks. They had 3 to 1 odds and did not have a higher kill ratio? OMG!

The Paks lack resolve as well and also have miscalculated (which is how wars start). They returned the pilot and went blubbering to China and tried to hide behind China's skirt. That tells me they are scared. Possibly they just want to mercilessly needle India with suicide attacks to weaken or kill it and suffer no repercussions by using China a shield.

India should launch 20 or 30 planes every day and charge the border, but not cross it. The Paks will see them and rise to meet them. Then use a long range missile salvos to start attriting the Paks. See who has the stronger economy. Who runs out of planes, missiles or money 1st? Throw other stuff in the mix.

If Pakistan is hemoraging money to replace its air force and focused on it, can the focus on their Northwest frontier. Can they control the Pakistani Taliban, the fire brands, and the crowds.

Artillery duels will not grind Pakistan down. One side air combat will. Forget the cruise missiles. Establish air dominance 1st. Make sure if it is Pak and it flies, it dies. Planes are expensive to procure. Grind the Pak establishment down until they have to make hard choices. They can be Muslim Brotherhood and kaput or they set that aside and become civilized.

I would not call it stupid. I think of it as BRAVE

If it were your home country, your children, your sisters, brothers, wives, fathers, husbands on the ground, would you not try to stop a bombardment? Especially if you are under orders and sworn to protect your country?

I am for neither side in this conflict. But it certainly was brave for 8 fighters to try to stop 24.

Equally I must say that it was the right thing for Pakistan to release the fighter jet pilot, and treat him well - from what we know so far.

If honor remains in war, war it is typically limited, as true honor respects the dignity of man. If honor is replaced by cowardice, that's when things get out of hand and atrocities against mankind are happening.

No, it wasn't. They are brave, but 8 did not rise up to meet 24. 24 rose up to meet 8.

The 8 where in a 'bomber' mission. They were acting as bombers and then switched over to a fighter role. That is stupid. That is a slaughter.

That is like dragging siege equipment to a castle and then when you are fatigued and then trying to storm it.

The cowardice started from the get go. It was the suicide bombing, It was not according to the Geneva convention. The suicide bomber was not wearing a uniform. But to expect dignity from the Paks is not wise. They sponsor terrorists, who have murdered a solider who fell from a helicopter and broke his back.

Pakistan sponsored jihadis and because of it, the Russians learned to fight to the bitter end instead of surrendering. Dying in combat is preferable to getting ass raped and then murdered as a POW.

IAF non standard to match PAF. IAF personel looks down morally and phsycologically. Real time fighting and bollywood dramatic heroism does not match the soldiers stupidly fighting to die for indebted IMF fist currencies. All indian idiot dogs go back to plough the paddy fields to nourish mental status.

Now we know you.

Yep it was very brave and just shows the disparity of the skill level, experience and training of IAF pilots over the Pakistani pilots.
Dog fight missiles slaved to a helmet site with a aircraft with upgraded avionics and radar with a super tight turn show the U. S that a peer battle will be a costly game.

8 Rose up to intercept 24

Really, they took out a F16 with what many consider junk, looks like the Pakistanis need to spend a bit more time in the simulator

If true, it is truly amazing that the older MIG got the kill and not the more modern SU's or the Mirage's.
