We need to renegotiate our trade relations with China. I've known this for decades. While perhaps his methods could be questioned, kudos to President Trump for recognizing this and facing the issue head on.
America's policy on the Hong Kong issue needs to bear this in mind. Does the position we take help or hinder us in these negotiations?
Essentially President Trump is spot on when he points that Xi has acted responsibly during this situation. When compared with what China could have done and still could do, Trump is essentially correct. For China not acting as they could have and still could, I credit Trump diplomacy.
In taking this stance, President Trump has demonstrated a lost art among US leadership. This is called "statesmanship" for lack of a better word. Essentially he ascribes to the American founding father view John Adams view of liberty. We support liberty everywhere but ultimately we can only guarantee our own.
Prediction: China will make some concessions to Hong Kong they wouldn't have otherwise. While it won't be everything they wanted, it will be an improvement over the previous situation. Had an ideological view been taken Hong Kong would have gotten nothing and their position would be even worse now than it was going in.
Unless Hong Kong does something stupid in this situation they will be better off than they were. Unfortunately this is a real possibility. Hong Kong citizens felt bold enough to protest. For this I tend to credit Trump diplomacy.
Another possibility is the "protesters" aren't freedom fighters at all and have been raised up to undercut President Trump and our trade negotiations. In this case, they need to be shut down and quickly!! So far the stable genius of President Trump hss handled this brilliantly.
The White House is monitoring the sudden “congregation” of Chinese forces at the border with Hong Kong, according to reports, following another night of unrest and clashes between protesters and police.
A senior US official who briefed reporters on the condition of anonymity said a number of units had gathered, but it’s unclear if they are security police or part of China’s military, Bloomberg reports.
It comes as Beijing accused the United States of inciting the increasingly unruly protests in Hong Kong, which began two months ago over a proposed extradition bill that could see citizens sent to the mainland.
The American flag has become a symbol of resistance against China in the ongoing protests in Hong Kong, prominently waved throughout the city this past weekend as police fired tear gas and rubber bullets into the peaceful crowds.
Protests continued Sunday despite the violence in Yuen Long on Saturday, this time within the Hong Kong city center. Protesters also waved American flags there. Some carried signs reading “We need the 2nd Amendment” and “President Trump, please liberate Hong Kong”
I have been involved in numerous computer science projects since the 1980s, as well as developing numerous web projects since 1996.
These blogs are a summation of all the information that I read and catalog pertaining to the subjects that interest me.

Linking Protesters and Trump is silly. Protesters are in fact there because of years of abuse by the main land on Hong Kong's independent status.
