* World health officials say the case fatality rate for COVID-19 is 3.4% globally, higher than previous estimates of about 2%.
* “Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during a press briefing at the agency’s headquarters in Geneva.
World health officials said Tuesday the case fatality rate for COVID-19 is 3.4% globally, higher than previous estimates of about 2%.
“Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during a press briefing at the agency’s headquarters in Geneva. In comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected, he said.
The World Health Organization had said last week that the mortality rate of COVID-19 can differ, ranging from 0.7% to up to 4%, depending on the quality of the health-care system where it’s treated. Early in the outbreak, scientists had concluded the death rate was around 2.3%.

GOP blocking coronavirus bill — because it limits how much drugmakers can charge for a vaccine: report
I call BS on this.
IF it were so lethal, why not MILLIONS of deaths???????????
the common flu kills several MILLION(!) globally every year.
What the f*ck is the WHO talking about?
Where are all the dead people filling our streets?
What is going on with the WHO/ China connection?
Come on. Seriously? No one sees that China was on the brink of financial collapse with the lost trade war and the industries fleeing left and right for years prior to that to Thailand and Vietnam?
And suddenly this KILLER virus (that does seem to kill way less than the common flu) is pronounced to be even more deadly OUTSIDE of china than inside, despite that Europe sees fewer deaths, despite the fact that the US sees far fewer deaths.
Like wtf?
Basic math not a requirement?
Where are the stats to back this nonsense up?
Will the people at the WHO be held accountable for tanking European markets and US markets almost in a planned manner?
We lost trillions thanks to the hype that originated in China.
I think you should pay back :)
