DW: SIPRI: Germany significantly increases military spending
More and more money is going toward the world's militaries, with the US and China leading the way. But no other top-spending country has increased its military expenditure year-over-year as much as Germany.
Global military expenditure reached $1.9 trillion (€1.7 trillion) in 2019, the highest annual sum in real terms since 1988. That sum marked an increase of 3.6% over 2018, the largest annual increase since 2010, according to the latest figures from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
In Germany, spending rose by 10% to $49.3 billion — the largest defense budget increase among the world's top 15 states when it comes to military expenditures.

WNU Editor: I guess President Trump's threat to remove US military forces from Germany and reposition them in Poland worked, especially when the Polish government signalled that they would approve of such a deployment.

Every time a Democrat is elected the Defense budget takes a hit almost as, if Democrat Presidents are reincarnated WW2 Japanese torpedo pilots.
Jimmy Carter did increase the defense budget in his last 2 years and Democrats would loudly proclaim that fact form on high. The last increase was was done during an election year. Did he do it because it was an election year and/or had been criticized for having low defense budgets for 3 years running?

I'll agree with WNU. More than how much money is spent is at issue here. For the money spent they should be better up time and better procurement.
