Two Russian Su-27s Escort Belgian F-16 Fighter Jet Flying Near Russia's Border In The Baltic Sea

RT: Two Su-27s follow Belgian F-16 fighter jet flying near Russia's border in the Baltic Sea (VIDEO)

A pair of Russian Su-27 fighter jets were quickly taken off a routine training flight to escort a Belgian warplane approaching the state border.

On Friday, the Russian military had spotted a Belgian F-16, which was heading towards the nation's border over the Baltic Sea. Two Su-27 fighter aircraft that were flying a training mission in the area were immediately sent to identify the foreign plane.

A cockpit video from one of the Russian jets shows how the Su-27s were maneuvering near the Belgian aircraft until it was escorted away from the country's border.

  1. Belium fighter not German fighters.

Belgium does not have a Baltic coastline. Germany does.

  3. Belgium is probably on the NATO patrol in the Baltic countries at the moment. NATO rotates pilots in and out of Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

  4. Point well taken Mr. Davenport.

Still, when it is Germany's turn, will they have any aircraft capable of the mission?

Or will yet another Minister of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth be promoted to Minister of Defense.

Seem like a very curious cursus honorum from a very dysfunctional society.

German Luftwaffe only has four operation-ready Eurofighter jets: report

Granted the report is from 2018. Since then I have seen nothing but bad news come out about Germany's defense forces. I have seen nothing good come out of German defense posture, foreign policy, energy policy, or German personal security on the streets since Fukushima in 2011 and the the Bitch opening the borders in 2015.

And it is not going to get better. Germany would rather cut of its nose to spite its face than to do anything productive.

  5. And Mr Davenport is right.

I'm surprised that Germany has kept 4 fighters operating in any one time period.

Should the commitment be based on GDP/population and overall defense commitments?
