Zimbabwe on Wednesday signed a US$3.5 billion compensation agreement with white farmers whose land was seized over 20 years ago under the country's controversial reforms.
Then president Robert Mugabe forcibly took more than 4,000 farms from the country's 4,500 white large-scale commercial farmers.
The compensation is for built structures including farmhouses and irrigation systems on the farms which were redistributed to landless blacks.

WNU Editor: What a cruel joke. The Zimbabwean President says that this commitment 'brings closure and a new beginning in the history of the land discourse in Zimbabwe'. No it does not. The commitment for compensation is a measly $75,000/farm. And there is no money on the table. The money has to be raised by the farmers themselves from international sources?!?!?!? That may make sense to the Zombabwean government and their supporters, but to me that is insane. This is why Zimbabwe is a disaster. Former President Mugabe was a monster, but the people who now run the country are just as incompetent.

White farmers were kicked out of Tanzania and Kenya also. But they were invited back by the those governments. The farmers actually came back to came from southern Africa. They reason give as to why was that they know how to farm in Africa. It is what they know and what they love.
It is not like Obama was going to allow them to immigrate to the US, persecuted or not. Obama got to stand on principles and practice his racism.
Russia invented some white farmers to move to Russia. I hope they keep Afrikaans going, but they are going to have to learn Russian. There is only one language of governance per country usually. At least in countries that work out in the long run.
PS: If they hate whitey so much they can change their names. Emmerson is much to good of a name for Mr. Mnangagwa. Besides he should not be culturally appropriating other cultures and languages.
I'm surprised there are any white farmers left in ZWE.
