Aides to President Trump reportedly believe he'll "face a harsh judgment from voters" after contracting COVID-19.
After Trump announced that he and first lady Melania Trump had both tested positive for COVID-19, The New York Times reported that "strategists in both parties and even senior aides to Mr. Trump said the president would face a harsh judgment from voters for throwing the country into greater uncertainty after one of the most trying years in American history."
The Times goes on to report that advisers to Trump acknowledge that his positive diagnosis will "remind voters of how dismissive" he has been about the coronavirus. "Mr. Trump's recklessness, one adviser admitted, amounted to a political 'disaster,'" the Times writes. Trump has continued to hold large rallies amid the pandemic and rarely worn a mask, and he told journalist Bob Woodward that he wanted to downplay the risks of COVID-19.

Update: Trump’s Positive Coronavirus Test Upends Campaign in Final Stretch (DNYUZ)
WNU Editor: I do not think President Trump is going to gain or lose voters because of his diagnosis. There is going to sympathy for him and his wife, but that is about it. What I do know is that the spotlight is going to shift on his opponent former Vice-President Biden, and I do not think that greater attention is going to help him. I have just watched the former Vice-President on live TV where he is pushing the use of masks. He was very good in the first minute, and then his tone changed. He reminds me of an old relative who was always yelling at us when we were young that we could not stand. Watching the former Vice-President made me do something that I rarely do when I see a political leader on TV. I switched the channel.
we see things not as they are but as we are
ReplyDeleteTrump wanted for obvious reasons to change the topic of the virus in his campaigning. He got the virus and for the next two weeks that issue is to be front and center, like it or not.
I traveled on vacation through several states. What I observed is that mask wearing is a joke. The rates we are getting are not low because of good compliance with masks mandate. They are at the high, because after 3 or 4 months people are going back to normal. Gasoline usage is 80% of normal, which shows people are mixing and mixing a lot. We will get a 3rd wave or bump due to college hot spots. After that settles down we might get a 4th bump, but it will be smaller.
ReplyDeleteLet's be honest. No, that io not possible.
Will someone explain how COVID 19 will have a gain of function in both how virulent it is and how contagious it is? I don't see that happening. Identify the selective pressures that would give 1 or 2 gain of functions. I think it can be argued that t will have a loss of function.
You people are not serious anyway. You people are the legacy press, Left wingnut press, Democrat officials and others. You a re just a bunch of monkeys running around playing at monkey politics operating the usual monkey levers to effect the change you want.
Harvard University Professor and Two Chinese Nationals Charged in Three Separate China Related Cases
"Zaosong Zheng, 30, a Chinese national, was arrested on Dec. 10, 2019, at Boston’s Logan International Airport and charged by criminal complaint with attempting to smuggle 21 vials of biological research to China."

What if they have continually smuggled vials the other way? Into the US a la "12 Monkeys?" Then you do not have to worry about the strain growing weaker. You do not have to worry about loss of function.
Maybe many in Washington already know this and this is why they sold their stocks? Maybe they don't dare call the PRC leaders out on it, because it would start a nuclear war? So instead Trump cut most travel from China and really scrutinize the rest coming in.
Generally, pathogens get less virulent over time. They lose function. All they care to do is replicate. Causing death is immaterial to pathogens.
ReplyDeleteBiden is not stimulating. His ideas are not original. Can he function at a president's required rate at his age is a crucial factor when considering him for the white house? I don't think he can.
If he can't finish a term, we get Harris who was finished in the democratic preliminaries in the beginning with a 2% approval figure. Isn't that an impressive showing.
The democrats have nothing going for them legislatively that I can see except financial handouts as usual[more debt]and green nonsense that appeals to younger, ignorant, and emotional voters.
The decline of America will continue. I wouldn't be surprised to begin experiencing talk of secession should the democrats win the election.
