TUESDAY: Melania Trump had discarded her mask by the time she joined her husband Donald on stage following a rancorous first debate of the 2020 campaign
* Trump and Melania tested positive in the early hours of Thursday morning and are now self-isolating
* On Thursday morning, he was told that Hope Hicks had tested positive with the virus, sources say
* He still went to a fundraising event at his New Jersey golf club where $5million was raised
* Attendees were asked to do their own tests before they entered the club and have their temperatures checked
* Trump started experiencing mild symptoms afterward and is now quarantining in the White House
* He and Melania were then tested; they both say they are now experiencing mild symptoms but are 'feeling good' and are in 'high spirits'
* Ivanka, Barron and Jared Kushner have all tested negative, as has Vice President Mike Pence
* Joe Biden, Trump's 77-year-old election opponent who he debated on Tuesday, has also tested negative
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump both have 'mild symptoms' but are in 'good spirits' after testing positive for COVID-19.
Trump and Melania both tested positive in the early hours of Friday morning and are quarantining in the White House residence.
He is expected to give a televised address to prove to the nation he is still fit to lead.
Now, there are questions about when White House staff learned Hicks had tested positive, when Trump learned bout it and why, with that knowledge in mind, he still went to the Bedminster event.

WNU Editor: Coulda, shoulda, woulda. There are still a lot of unknowns right now, but cancelling an event because one of your aides was diagnosed positive for Covid-19 was/is a judgement call. A call that did not work out in this case.
My take: he's never taken the virus seriously in the past so he was also going to discount it now. Too bad, so sad.

ReplyDeleteOld Zeke sees no problem with corona. A virus that seemingly targets the elderly looks like what Dr. Ezekiel ordered.
"Living too long is also a loss." - Ezekiel J. Emanuel
"Why I Hope to Die at 75" - Ezekiel J. Emanuel
Old Joe turns 78 in November.
Incredibly, Emanuel cited
“Italian guidelines that potentially assign a higher priority for intensive care access to younger patients with severe illness than to elderly patients”
as a positive example to follow.
Italy left many elderly people to die alone without treatment at the height of its coronavirus outbreak.
Liberal Utopia
With doctors like Zeke Emanuel whispering in Biden’s ear, the ELDERLY and other individuals with serious underlying medical conditions have great reason to worry.
ReplyDeletenice deflection
ReplyDelete1
fact: virus does impact younger folks
2 fact: Zeke said HE did not want to live beyond 75 but he did not say others should not.
3 drifting about in comments to change the issue is dumb
4 the real issue for Trump campaign is that they wanted to move away (as do commenters here)_ from the virus issue and now for the next two weeks that issue is front and center

ReplyDeleteYour take is that he did not take the virus seriously. While this could be correct, I don't see his actions bearing this out. While one of the most brutal economic shutdowns in the world was the brainchild of Dr. Fauci and implemented by him, Trump fully supported it and backed it. As a business person, he had to know what this would do to the economy and the other illnesses it would spawn. I'd say he took it very seriously. Perhaps he did not give into the hysteria such as the obsession with masks that, while the have limited utility are not the panacea we are told they are.
Perhaps he didn't cancel a fund raiser before all of the data was in. IMHO to have done so at that time would not have been the right stuff and his supporters would not have approved. We might die in an auto accident. We still use automobiles anyway. We might die of food poisoning yet we eat anyway. COVID-19 is one of many ways in which one can die and frankly many are of much greater risks. The disease is real. The hysteria is manmade and Trump bought into it hook, line, and sinker. He took it very seriously. So seriously, in fact, he supported one of the most brutal economic shutdowns in the world that proved entirely futile. Some want to go down that failed path again!!
This does bring the virus front and center where certain people want it. It allows them to further fan the flames of hysteria as they have calculated this is a viable path to political power for them.
As some of my contacts in the medical profession have informed me, we are all going to get this. The question is not "if" but "when." We do not know what will happen. I pray for Trump and his family as I do all of our leaders. My prediction is he and the Frist Lady will recover swiftly and fully while setting an example on not giving into hysteria.
Furthermore the campaign and the POTUS have been taking EXTREME precautions to avoid spreading this. Taking extreme and even prudent precautions does not mean working ourselves into a frenzy over masks that have only limited utility anyway. Given the extreme precautions that have been taken, I think a question that should be asked is was POTUS deliberately infected?
He was just spreading the love. And covid 19. 😆😖
ReplyDeleteJust another bad judgement call by the president.
ReplyDelete"Zeke said HE did not want to live beyond 75 but he did not say others should not."
ReplyDeleteHe might be trying to gently convince people to agree with him.
Or he might be giving people a preview or warning of the Crass Sunstein Nudge.
However, it is NOT a deflection. There is talk among Democrats bypassing the most vulnerable amongst us when distributing the 1st batch of vaccine. Because social justice or something.
And Zeke does have the Joe The Relic's ear.
