Very simplistic analysis that Trump "caved" on the stimulus bill or that he is going to be "embarrassed" by the override of his veto. By delaying on signing the stimulus bill he entered into the discussion increased payments for Americans that we otherwise would not have been discussing. Furthermore the so called "delay" wasn't significant enough to make any material difference in getting aid to people or businesses who need it. The overriding of the veto is expected as well. At issue for him and for allot of people was the special exemptions that Facebook, Twitter, and other social media have from being accountable for their actions. By vetoing the bill this is now entered into the discussion. Otherwise it would not have been.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, Trump appears to either be positioning himself to run again in 2024 or to have a significant role in selecting the 2024 nominee. Also, at issue is the GA Senate races in which Trump is trying to afford the Republican candidates the best opportunities. Simplistic analyses do not grasp such things.
