I wanna ask why the US is in Iraq. We are there because of the Kurds and ISIS.

There is a big stink made about Afghan interpreters and in some or many cases legitimately so. If it is important to protect out Afghan interpreters/allies, what about our Sunni allies in Iraq?

I will say this. If the government of Iraq has full Shia support then it is about twice as legitimate as Assad's Alawite government.

We should never have disbanded the Iraqi army. Maybe it would be mistake to not disband it. Maybe we would received the treatment the British received in Aden, if we had not disbanded the army. We applied the lesson of WW2 to Iraq. But we lied to ourselves at least a little bit about how de-NAZI-fied that we made Germany. So maybe the lesson we learned was not the right one. Maybe it was more nuanced.

Make Kurdistan. Add Anbar to Saudi Arabia and break no bread with the Shia until they are freaking civil. Would I fear a larger Saudi Arabia? Yup. but it is better than getting bit by the ungrateful Shia day in and day out.
