Top Moscow Think Tank Explains How A War Between Moscow & Kiev Could Play Out, And Why It Won’t Happen

The costs of a war between Russia and Ukraine far outweigh the benefits. It brings significant risks to the economy, political stability and Russian foreign policy, fails to solve key security problems, but creates many new ones. 

That’s according to Valdai Club Programme Director Ivan Timofeev. The top Moscow think tank is closely connected with President Vladimir Putin. Timofeev, one of Russia’s leading foreign experts, is skeptical about the possibility of a conflict, but he has outlined how such an operation could be conducted.

  1. It amazes how pundits assume the Russian military would mop the floor with the Ukrainians. I beg to differ, the Russian military has not done well in recent conflicts they all started. The Chechens beat them, The Georgians nearly beat them, and the Ukrainians mopped the floor with them along with their flunkies in the Donbas. The lost in Afghanistan and they only reason they were in on the ww2 victory because Hitler foolishly decided to take on ever freaking body. The Ukraine is not a small country, has a large army, big air defenses and do not like the Russians all that much. Russia would be favored somewhat but it would not be a cakewalk. To many bad things could happen to Russia if they did invade, they could lose and take a lot of casualties and for what? To test Biden? I would be surprised if it happened. Same with the Chinese invading Taiwan. IMHO
