* A sixth U.S. military aid shipment arrived in Kiev on Tuesday including 500 tons of defense equipment

Vladimir Putin said the U.S. and NATO have 'ignored' the Kremlin's concerns in recent correspondence as the Russian president made his first direct comments on the Ukraine crisis since December.

'We are carefully analyzing the written responses received from the United States and NATO,' Putin said Tuesday during a press conference with Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

'But it is already clear that fundamental Russian concerns ended up being ignored,' he lamented.

'We did not see adequate consideration of our three key demands regarding the prevention of NATO expansion, the refusal to deploy strike facilities near Russia's borders, and the return of the bloc's military infrastructure in Europe to the state in 1997.'

  2. Russia's "Key Demands"? These demands basically amount to suzerainty (overlordship) over Bulgaria, Romania and other ex-Soviet states that joined NATO after 1997. All US presence, personnel and equipment out. Russia in. Essentially returning to pre 1997 status.

    That is a non-starter.

Bringing Ukraine into NATO is the VERY thing that is spiking Russian paranoia and accelerating Putin's desires to bring them back into the Soviet fold. To get them off the table and out of NATO's grasp. Russia literally has no more buffer States and it is driving them crazy. Unable to let go of centuries of paranoia and tyranny.

They didn't have their 1848 revolution against the monarchy like much of Europe did. And that revolution, when it came was the full Marxist monstrousity where the Bolsheviks/Communists barely squeaked by. And for 100 years they're leadership has been seeking to crush any and all opposition.

Putin is about the last gasp of that thinking. The rest went right to Oligarchy. Putin did too, wealthiest man alive, supposedly. But he's still pumping the Boyar poison into his veins.

There's got to be some middle ground other than NATO unassing the new ex-bloc members. That isn't going to happen. After the AFG humiliation, Biden probably won't back down. Especially to the max prime Baba Yaga Putin.

    So here we are.

  3. Former Chancellor Angela Merkel is half Polish. You would think she would look at how Poles feel about Russia before being a surrender monkey.

  4. The main thing I've thought all along is that I don't think Ukraine should be considered as joining NATO. Not that that's any great take, just adding my two cents.

  5. I appreciate the two cents.

    1) Should Ukraine not join because it borders Russia?

Estonia and Latvia border Russia and they are NATO members?

Norway borders Russian and it is a NATO member. Please note the kindly Russia made Norway a bordering state by stealing land from Finland, because security concerns or something.

    2) Should Ukraine not join because ethnic Russian live in it?

The same is true of Latvia and Estonia.

    Latvia 26.9%
    Estonia 24.8%
    Ukraine 17.3%

"In 2001, the ethnic composition was: Ukrainians 77.8%, Russian 17.3% ..."

Maybe NATO should leave Norway, Ukraine, Estonia and Latvia?

    3) Russia will retaliate? The Sino-Russian axis includes Pakistan, Iran and North Korea. Iran or its proxy already have troops in the US and along the southern border.
