NATO Declares Russia Its ‘Most Significant And Direct Threat’

 

Daily Mail: NATO allies confirm Russia is the biggest threat to their 'safety and security' and warns for the first time that CHINA threatens the international order in direct jab at Beijing 

* NATO allies set out their fears about Russia and China 

* President Biden arrived at the NATO summit in Madrid on Wednesday morning 

* He said the U.S. was changing its 'force posture in Europe' 

* That includes sending two F-35 squadrons and two more destroyers, as well as deploying 5,000 more troops to Romania 

* And the U.S. will establish a permanent military base in Poland, he said 

* He made the announcement as leaders met to consider the threat from Russia 

The 30 NATO allies on Wednesday branded Russia as the biggest threat to their security and for the first time described the challenge posed by the rise of China. 

It came as President Joe Biden said the U.S. was moving more troops and hardware into Europe, including for the first time installing a permanent presence on NATO's eastern flank. 

Twelve years ago, NATO's 'strategic concept' made no mention of China and described Russia as a 'strategic partner.'
