New Covid Model For China Predicts Over 1 Million Deaths In 2023

CNBC/Reuters: New Covid model predicts over 1 million deaths in China through 2023

* China’s national health authority has not reported any official Covid deaths since the lifting of Covid restrictions. The last official deaths were reported on Dec. 3. Total pandemic fatalities stand at 5,235.

* Other experts expect some 60% of China’s population will eventually be infected, with a peak expected in January, hitting vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions, the hardest.

* Key concerns include China’s large pool of susceptible individuals, the use of less effective vaccines and low vaccine coverage among those 80 and older, who are at greatest risk of severe disease.

China’s abrupt lifting of stringent Covid-19 restrictions could result in an explosion of cases and over a million deaths through 2023, according to new projections from the U.S.-based Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME).

According to the group’s projections, cases in China would peak around April 1, when deaths would reach 322,000. About a third of China’s population will have been infected by then, IHME Director Christopher Murray said.

Do you think that this rapid lifting of covid restrictions is a spiteful response from the CCP, saying, if you don't like our covid controls, we'll let the virus ravage you??

Population control for them and educes the elderly population so they don't have to be concerned about it years from now.

The only difference between flu seasons now and those of yore is that re can rapidly identify the virus or viruses.

It is the same as before you grow old, you grow weak, and a virus get you, when you are in your 70's 80s or 90s.

If it is not that, then it is cancer, heat disease or something.

Before doom and gloom is expected, given the questionable history in the last three years of models from multiple groups in accurately predicting events, what is the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation's record?
