* As 2022 ended, Ukrainian missiles struck a school-turned-barracks in Makiivka
* Ukrainian officials claimed as many as 400 Russian soldiers were killed in attack
* The strike happened as Putin was delivering his annual New Year address on TV
Russia has acknowledged that scores of its troops were killed in one of the Ukraine war's deadliest single strikes, when Kyiv's forces struck a building housing troops at the exact moment Vladimir Putin was delivering his televised New Year address.
In a rare admission, Russia's defence ministry said 63 soldiers had died in the fiery blast which destroyed the temporary barracks in a former vocational college in Makiivka, twin city of the Russian-occupied regional capital of Donetsk.
It said the accommodation had been hit by four rockets fired from U.S.-made HIMARS launchers, claiming two rockets had been shot down.
The Russian disaster has drawn demands from nationalist bloggers for commanders to be punished for housing soldiers alongside an ammunition dump.

WNU Editor: This attack shows how devastating precision munitions and systems can be when they are used. In this particular case, even though Ukraine only has a few HIMARS systems and a limited number of missiles, they were successful in inflicting heavy casualties. But what the Western mainstream media is not talking about, and this successful strike should be put into context, is that Russia has the same type of systems that Ukraine has, but in numbers that far dwarf what Ukraine has deployed and is using.
One can only imagine the casualty numbers that are being impacted on the Ukrainian side, but of course the Western media is not reporting on that.

ReplyDeleteSo why hasn't Russia won yet?
Maybe WNU should graph y = e^-x
Russia HIMARS don’t even come close to US made ones with accuracy or range.. seriously they are not the same and Russia has no answers for them.. none
ReplyDeleteIf Russia says scores they mean hundreds and a ammo dump went up in smoke too… never station so many troops near an ammo dump… it’s like clowns are running the Russia military…
ReplyDeleteRussian equivalent is the 9M54 series guided rocket for the Smerch and Tornado systems. Range 120km with a CEP 7-15m
ReplyDeleteThe most advanced US HIMARS can reach 500 km or over 310 miles and hit a car…simply google the comparison and you will see range and accuracy are light years ahead of the most advanced Russian systems. This is the biggest factor in Ukraines success against Russia in this war.
DeleteYou are confusing GMLS rockets and the Precision Strike Missile
DeleteNo you are confused. Easy to google comparison’s for range and accuracy. Russian version’s are no comparison at all. And every European country is scrambling to get US made HIMARS which they know is essential on a modern day battlefield.
DeleteThen provide the designation for the HiMARS rocket that has a 500km range :)
Delete"One can only imagine the casualty numbers that are being impacted on the Ukrainian side, but of course the Western media is not reporting on that. "
ReplyDeleteShocking that neither Russia nor Ukraine discuss their casualty numbers. WNU thinks it is a big deal, when Ukraine does not discuss its casualty numbers, but is not as animated when Russia makes it against the law to discuss Russian casualties. Pimping much?
Even Russian news agency’s including Sputnik as well many Russian bloggers are reporting this. That alone is a huge story because neither side reports casualties at all.
ReplyDeleteWnu...a few, they have over 20 and are far more advanced than anything Russia has in its arsenal. You can slso guarantee that if Russia says 63 dead the real toll is much much higher.
ReplyDeleteNot to.mention that ukraine is deploying their assets gar more strategically, and as for himars is not a problem unless you refer to the wooden decoys that Russia has destroyed.
Surley you are on putins payroll.? .
Wow, between 2:20pm and Fazman, WNU has to turn a lot of cheek.
ReplyDeleteWe all are biased in our own way; and even if someone weren't biased, he would seem biased to his fellows.
So, people should dismount their high horses and appreciate the free service provided, or go to one's preferred news source instead of tossing accusations here.
This is your final warning.
If you all think his guy as the host of their blog, why do you even bother reading it?
ReplyDeleteI mean, do you read the woke blogs at the democratic party of ANTIF blogs tooo. I don not because those people are nuts and have no foundation in reality.
If WNU is a Putin puppet, then he publishes nothing but Lias. Want a Putin Rah Rah site. Go to the saker site. You will get a belly full. But back to the main question. What do you return here.
Nothing against you, just curious that's all.
