Kyiv Independent: Zelensky visits Snake Island, marks 500 days of full-scale war
President Volodymyr Zelensky marked 500 days of Russia's full-scale war on July 8 with a video filmed on Snake Island, promising that Ukraine will reclaim every part of its territory currently occupied by Russia. Snake Island, located 35 kilometers from the mainland of Odesa Oblast, was captured by Russian forces at the onset of the full-scale invasion due to its strategic importance. On Feb. 24, 2022, two Russian warships attacked the island and told the Ukrainian border guards to surrender. One of the Ukrainian border guards famously responded, "Russian warship, go fuck yourself," a phrase which became a symbol of Ukrainian resistance.

WNU Editor: The counteroffensive is not going well. In fact it is now a disaster. Hence the photo-op on Snake Island to divert everyone's attention.

The visit to Snake Island shows Russia's impotence.
ReplyDeleteIf Russia knew of his visit they could have hit him with a missile strike. They have neither the intel nor surveillance they once had.
Russian fleet is bottled up hiding behind some dolphins and nets.
okay boomer
DeleteYep , and hardly a disaster when 80% of troops and Western equipment not e en committed yet .WNU on the crack pipe
DeleteWatching how WNU comments regarding Ukraine's admittedly poor counteroffensive Vs Russia's disastrous first 6 months of war (which has not improved) is very telling. The credibility of this blog and him himself as a journalist blogger is down the toilet.
ReplyDeleteOh sure, he has his supporters (I was one once) but those who support or align with his views are full of extreme hate and nihilistic opinions it doesn't help the position that this blog is now in.
What a shame.
How is "Okay boomer" a put down?
ReplyDeleteA boomer at this point is someone with the means and the health to live to an old age. It takes stamina, intelligence, and wisdom to live so long.
It is a disaster in the sense expectations have not been met, nor is there any sign that they will be.
ReplyDeleteThis offensive was touted to supposedly to liberate the Crimea and the Donbass. It is spectacular in the sense that it has not even gotten thru the 1st defense line after 30 days.
Reality. The results of this operation, up to this point, have been extremely poor.
But that's not the problem. The Problem is that , by all accounts, (and as predicted on this blog) that it is not going to get any better.
Remember many of you said that with the new: tanks, IFV, artillery, training and Fazman's storm shadows, that the Ukrainians would quickly destroy the depleted, exhausted, poorly equipped, untrained russian army. It was going to be a rout.
That did not happen. Now the Ukrainians are worried about a counter attack and want "security guarantees" and possibly doing a false flag on the nuke plant.
Why , Why now? because once again they are getting desperate,
and it shows.
BTW. Seeing the editors comments I think we all have it wrong. I think he sees this offensive as a disaster, not because it is not going anywhere, but...
because it has , again turned into a meat grinder for the Ukrainian people. The graveyards are so full that you have to wait to be buried. Young people are now in short supply. The best are either dead or fled the country. This is a tragic event.
The sad thing is that it is evident, the ukie government is not making it any better. The people who planned this offensive probably need to be shot and they need to stop listening to the siren song of the Americans.

ReplyDeleteGOOD TRY. So instead of responding to the valid points of poster 8:48.
You try to change the subject to a non pertaining issue.
You GS zombies having a slow DAY.?
Or just don't have the brains, guts, or wits to answer back intelligently with logic?
.
I agree with Anon
ReplyDeleteChange the subject? No that was not the point.
ReplyDeleteThe point was to get someone's goat.
The point also was to put that in wider circulation.
Neither point had the purpose of upsetting you although it did. For that I am not sorry. Suck on it.

That cubicle environment is depressing , is it not? It does not help when your superiors do not tell you the whole truth.
With very few exceptions, nobody targets heads of state, no matter where they are, as a matter of course for the last hundred years. There are of course numerous examples of CIA assassination during that time period but they only happened against countries that legitimately could not retaliate in kind. The fact that Russia didn't kill him on Snake Island indicates nothing more than when they choose to not kill him every single week doing lines in his office.
ReplyDeleteConversely the Kiev regime has openly stated their intention to kill the Russian leadership and has failed to do so. What does that say?

On 18 December 1963 a number of students from Ghana and other African countries organized a protest on Moscow's Red Square in response to the alleged murder of medical student Edmund Assare-Addo. The number of participants was reported at 500–700, but according to the Ghanaian physician Edward Na, who participated in the events, there were at most 150 protesters.
