Inventor's 'Ghost Boat' Will Not Be Bought By The Pentagon Nor Will They Permit Him To Sell It Abroad

Bloomberg: The Feds Won’t Buy This $19 Million Stealth Boat—or Let It Be Sold Abroad

With his patents under gag order, Gregory Sancoff is being ghosted by the government.

Self-made millionaire Gregory Sancoff has spent a decade and $19 million building a highly unusual stealth boat. Called Ghost, it’s designed to be faster, more stable, and more fuel-efficient than anything currently in the U.S. Navy’s fleet, he says. “It’s such a smooth ride, you can sit there and drink your coffee going through six-foot swells,” he proudly told Bloomberg Businessweek in 2014.

But there’s a problem: The Pentagon doesn’t want Sancoff’s boat—and also won’t let him sell it abroad.

WNU Editor: This story reminds me of the time when the Japanese were interested in buying the F-22 when the announcement was made that the production line was being terminated .... but the Pentagon said no. Rather lose jobs and markets if the technology gets out there (which has probably been stolen anyway).

The Case For The Stealthy Warship Known As 'GHOST'

Is The Navy Missing The Boat On The Stealthy Ghost Warship? -- Thom Patterson, CNN

(CNN) -- Gregory Sancoff thinks he knows what the Navy needs, even before U.S. war planners do.

The Navy, he says, needs Ghost.

Sancoff is CEO of Juliet Marine Systems — maker of a futuristic-looking, 21st-century warship that he says can protect large Navy ships from attacks by small boats.

Simply put, Ghost looks a lot like an F-117 "stealth" attack jet — on skis.

A year after unveiling Ghost and pricing it at $10 million per boat, the Navy has unofficially expressed interest, Sancoff said, but nothing more.

My Comment: A remarkable boat .... and even I see the need for it. But .... it is also a warship that was designed without any Pentagon planning or permission ... which means the Pentagon is probably not going to buy it. The owner and promoter Gregory Sancoff should instead market this ship overseas .... it would not surprise me if he gets customers.

Ghost, The First Super-Cavitating Stealth Craft

JMS Presents First Super-Cavitating Craft GHOST to Public

'Ghost' Craft Comes Into View -- UPI

PORTSMOUTH, N.H., Aug. 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has lifted its block on images of Ghost, the first super-cavitating stealth craft developed, by Juliet Marine Systems.

The craft is a combination of stealth fighter aircraft and attack helicopter technologies packaged in a marine platform and Juliet has now published its image.

Juliet said development of Ghost, done without government funding, was in many ways as difficult as breaking the sound barrier. Ghost is a combination aircraft/boat that has been designed to fly through an artificial underwater gaseous environment that creates 900 times less hull friction than water.

Ghost technology adapts to manned or unmanned, surface or submerged applications.
