Russian Foreign Minister: UK, Germany, & France ‘Grossly Interfered’ In US Election

RT: UK, Germany, & France ‘grossly interfered’ in US election – Russian FM

Leaders and top officials from the UK, Germany, and France have “grossly interfered” in US internal affairs, “campaigned” for Hillary Clinton, and openly “demonized” Donald Trump, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

Speaking at a press conference following a meeting with Austrian counterpart Sebastian Kurz, Lavrov said Moscow “is tired" of accusations it meddled in the US election.

In fact, Lavrov said, it is time to “acknowledge the fact” that it was the other way around.

“US allies have grossly interfered in America’s internal affairs, in the election campaign,” Lavrov said.

“We noticed that Angela Merkel, Francois Hollande, Theresa May, and other European leaders” did so. He added that official representatives of some of the European countries did not mince words, and essentially “demonized” Donald Trump during the election campaign.

In August last year, German Foreign Minister Frank Walther Steinmeier called Trump a “hate preacher.”

Update: Russia Snaps, Accuses UK, Germany And France Of "Grossly Interfering" In The US Election (Zero Hedge).

WNU Editor: While doing this blog I lost count on how many times European leaders and politicians unloaded on Trump .... and the media frenzy that followed. Can this be labeled as interference in the U.S. election .... apparently not. But leaked emails that expose how the Democrat primary was fixed are labeled as election interference .... that the Russians are to be blamed for it (even though no evidence has been made public to prove these allegations) .... and that this in turn makes President-elect Trump illegitimate.

U.S. Senator Feinstein Belevies Russia Interfered And "Altered" The Outcome Of The Election

Real Clear Politics: Feinstein: Russia Interfered And "Altered" The Outcome Of The Election

CHUCK TODD: Let me go to the investigation. You've seen the unclassified versions of this intel report. Do you have any doubt in your mind that Russia tried to interfere in the election? And then second, do you believe it altered the outcome?

SEN. DIANNE FEINSTEIN: The answer is yes on both cases.

CHUCK TODD: You truly -- you believe--

SEN. DIANNE FEINSTEIN:
I truly --

CHUCK TODD:
-- it altered the outcome.

SEN. DIANNE FEINSTEIN: -- that's what I believe. I've had all of the major classified briefings. I have been astonished at what has been a two-year effort at Russia to spearfish, to hack, to provide disinformation, propaganda, wherever it really could. And I think this has been a very sophisticated effort.

I think in our classified sessions, we will be able to get down to the depth and breadth of it. I hope so. I spoke yesterday twice with Senator Warner, who is our new vice chairman. And he reviewed with me the terms of this agreement. This investigation has to be full and robust. If it isn't, both of us will go toward an outside panel. But we cannot ignore what has happened. To ignore it is really to commit ourselves to a very bad future.

Update: 'Future of America' at stake with hacking, Feinstein says (The Hill).

WNU Editor: Is U.S. democracy threatened .... and is America gripped by fear .... U.S. Senator Feinstein certainly believes this is the case. What's my take .... I must confess that I am surprised .... I never knew how fragile the entire U.S. political system was/is .... that a few hacks can bring it down. I thought it was always stronger than that.

U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee To Investigate Possible Russia-Trump Links

Politico: Intelligence Committee will investigate possible Russia-Trump links

The Senate panel could use subpoenas to secure testimony from Obama officials and the Trump team.

Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) said late Friday that his committee will investigate possible contacts between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia, reversing himself one day after telling reporters that the issue would be outside of his panel’s ongoing probe into Moscow’s election-disruption efforts.

Burr and the intelligence panel’s top Democrat, Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, said in a joint statement that the committee's probe would touch on "intelligence regarding links between Russia and individuals associated with political campaigns" as well as Russian cyberattacks and other election meddling outlined in an intelligence report released last week.

Is There 'Open Warfare' Between The Intelligence Agencies And President-Elect Trump?

FOX News: Glenn Greenwald: Democrats hoping intelligence agencies will 'undermine and subvert' Trump presidency

Journalist Glenn Greenwald told Fox News Thursday that there is "obvious open warfare" between the intelligence community and President-elect Donald Trump, with Democrats "openly calling for and cheering for the intervention of the CIA."

Greenwald spoke to "Tucker Carlson Tonight" regarding reports that Trump and President Barack Obama had been briefed about unverified allegations that Russian spies had collected compromising personal and financial information about the president-elect. A dossier containing the most salacious allegations was published by BuzzFeed earlier this week.

Greenwald said Democrats and liberals are "hoping ... that this unelected faction in Washington will undermine and subvert and destroy the legitimacy of Donald Trump’s presidency before he’s even inaugurated and I think what you’re seeing is actually quite dangerous."

WNU Editor: Glenn Greenwald's commentary post is here .... The Deep State Goes to War With President-Elect, Using Unverified Claims, as Democrats Cheer (The Intercept). As to what is my take .... I do not know if there is "open warfare" .... but it is obvious that President-elect does not trust the intel community. But what is even more interesting .... and this is the first time that I am seeing this .... many in the media and the Democrat Party have found a new trust and belief in what the intel community is saying .... and they are doing it unquestionably.

More Details Emerge On The Former MI6 Spy Who Produced The Russian Dossier On President-Elect Trump

Photo: Former British spy Christopher Steele, seen here in 2015. The Cambridge Union via YouTube

The Independent: Former MI6 agent Christopher Steele's frustration as FBI sat on Donald Trump Russia file for months

Exclusive: Steele was so concerned by revelations he worked without payment after Trump's election victory in November.

Christopher Steele, the former MI6 agent who investigated Donald Trump’s alleged Kremlin links, was so worried by what he was discovering that at the end he was working without pay, The Independent has learned.

Mr Steele also decided to pass on information to both British and American intelligence officials after concluding that such material should not just be in the hands of political opponents of Mr Trump, who had hired his services, but was a matter of national security for both countries.

However, say security sources, Mr Steele became increasingly frustrated that the FBI was failing to take action on the intelligence from others as well as him. He came to believe there was a cover-up, that a cabal within the Bureau blocked a thorough inquiry into Mr Trump, focusing instead on the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails.

After a week of non-stop news coverage on this story my take is still the same ..... who knows what the truth really is, but if given a choice .... I suspect that this dossier is mostly gossip and talk. The British tabloid The SUN is saying that Christopher Steele was paid $130,000 to do this report .... IT'S JUST GOSSIP Ex-MI6 spy Christopher Steele charged £130,000 for Trump ‘dirty dossier’ and ‘sexed it up to please the people paying him’ (The SUN). If true .... some of that money had to go and pay-off people in Russia .... after-all .... they have to be the source for his information. And take it from this Russian blogger .... it is truly amazing how a few hundred bucks can spin an interesting tale from almost anyone in Russia today. But this little titbit of information is being conveniently ignored right now, and for President-Elect Trump's political opponents (including many in the media) .... they want this story to be true, and they are going to push it even though no one has presented any evidence that there is any truth behind it.

Update: This is so typical of the main stream media .... NBC is calling Christopher Steele "A Real-Life James Bond .... Christopher Steele, Trump Dossier Author, Is a Real-Life James Bond (NBC). British Press: U.S. Senator McCain Pushed The Russian Dossier On President-elect Trump

Daily Mail: Revealed: 'Ordinary 'citizen' John McCain dispatched a trusted aide across the Atlantic to get dirty dossier from ex-spy after former British diplomat told him about blackmail tapes

* The Guardian charted the path the dirty dossier made from a British intelligence professional to Sen. John McCain and then the FBI
* McCain, 80, put out a statement Wednesday saying that he was the bureau's source of the controversial dossier
* The Arizona Republican found out about the dossier's existence while at a meeting in Canada and dispatched an emissary to hunt it down

Sen. John McCain said he did 'what any citizen would do' in turning over the dirty dossier, which contained unconfirmed secrets about the president-elect, over to the FBI.

The Guardian charted the path of how the dossier came to be and how it was that McCain got his hands on the controversial documents.

The story of the dossier began with an investigative firm in Washington, D.C., being tapped by one of Trump's primary allies to dig up some opposition research on the Republican hopeful.

FBI Director Comey Was The Only One Who Briefed President-Elect Trump On That Russian Dossier

NBC: FBI’s Comey Told Trump About Russia Dossier After Intel Briefing

President-elect Donald Trump was informed about the existence of the unverified allegations against him about Russian ties after last Friday's Intel briefing at Trump Tower on alleged Russian hacking, U.S. officials told NBC News.

A senior U.S. official said that it was FBI Director James Comey himself who pulled Trump aside after the briefing and spoke with him one-on-one about the so-called "dossier," 35 pages of memos prepared by a former British spy for an anti-Trump client prior to last year's election.

As NBC News has previously reported, Trump was not told about the contents of the dossier during the formal briefing.

Ex-British Intelligence Officer Who Compiled Donald Trump 'Dossier Has Been Identified And Is Now In Hiding

Daily Mail: NAMED: The former British spy behind 'dirty Kremlin dossier' that claimed Trump was in bed both with Putin - AND pervert prostitutes. Hunt on for former UK ambassador who handed report to US politician

* Christopher Steele is alleged to be ex-MI6 agent behind 'Fake' dossier
* 35-page salacious file featured claims about Mr Trump's links with Russia
* It also includes gossip about a 'golden shower' sex game in a Moscow hotel
* Dossier has been widely discredited and is littered with spelling mistakes
* Mr Steele, 52, runs private security and investigations firm in London
* He was previously posted to Britain's Moscow embassy in 1990
* Reports say he has now fled his Surrey home and is 'terrified for his life'

The former British spy who allegedly compiled a 'dirty' dossier smearing Donald Trump has been revealed.

Ex-MI6 man Christopher Steele is reported to be the source of a salacious file alleging the Kremlin had compromising evidence about Mr Trump's sex life, that it planned to use to blackmail him.

Mr Trump has today called the dossier, alleged to have been handed to US Senator John McCain by a former British ambassador, 'fake' and 'phony' and Moscow has dismissed the claims as 'utter nonsense.'

Mr Steele, 52, is the director of a private security and investigations firm called Orbis Business Intelligence Ltd, run out of plush offices in Belgravia, central London.

The involvement of a former British intelligence officer and ambassador poses embarrassment for the Government with Theresa May under pressure to reassure the President-elect that the UK had nothing to do with the 35-page briefing.
