Despite the war, you can still see a doctor when you need. No wonder refugees go back for treatment 

Last May, after a stay in a suboptimal German hotel, I contracted a nasty skin infection. After countless futile attempts to get through to the NHS to be seen by a dermatologist, I was told that it would be months before I would be given an appointment. 

So far, so familiar, you might think. But if you have read and struggled to believe stories about Ukrainians living in the UK returning to their native country for medical treatment, let me tell you that I am one of them. Having given up on the NHS, I flew to Poland and crossed the border. Later that day, amid air raid sirens, I visited a hospital. By the evening, I had the relevant medicines to get me back on the mend.

WNU Editor: I have been hearing the same stories from Ukrainian refugees in Canada. They are shocked to learn about long waiting lines to see a doctor, over crowded hospitals, and when it comes to treatment (i.e. cancer treatment, surgery, etc.) you are put on a list and you have to wait.

The British Army's most decorated serving soldier has accused the Government of failing troops suffering from mental trauma as a result of combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for twice saving the lives of colleagues in Iraq while under heavy rocket fire, said it was "disgraceful" that some veterans struggled to receive treatment that is rightfully theirs.

He said the Government was relying on military charities to cover its own failings and called on ministers to do more to help the growing number of his comrades suffering from severe combat stress, depression and mental breakdowns.

My Comment: The Ministry for Veterans in the U.K. is years behind the service that countries like Canada and the U.S. give to their injured soldiers (which is not saying much). Kudos to Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry for pointing out this outrage.
