U.S. National Security Adviser Says China Is The Threat Of The Century

ABOARD HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH (Reuters) - President Donald Trump’s national security adviser accused China on Wednesday of trying to steal COVID-19 vaccine research from the West, casting it as a malign rival that was seeking to monopolise every important industry of the 21st Century.

Trump identifies China as the United States’ main competitor, and has accused the Chinese Communist Party of taking advantage over trade and not telling the truth over the novel coronavirus outbreak, which he calls the “China plague”. In a 20-minute broadside against China, Robert O’Brien told top British and U.S. military and intelligence officials that China was a predatory power that repressed its people and had sought to coerce both neighbours and Western powers.

“The CCP is seeking dominance in all domains and sectors... (and) plans to monopolise every industry that matters to the 21st century,” O’Brien told the Atlantic Future Forum via a video link to Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.

WNU Editor: How times have changed. It was only a few years ago that US business and political leaders were rushing to China to build better ties while thinking that they can influence Beijing to follow a cooperative approach to solving the world's problems. Today .... there is a realization that Beijing has a different view on their place in the world, and it does not involve cooperating if it interferes with China's agenda or goals.

U.S. National Security Adviser Says Trump Transfer Of Power "Not Something That's On The Table"

CBS: O'Brien says Trump transfer of power "not something that's on the table"

Washington — White House national security adviser Robert O'Brien said Sunday that a transfer of power from President Trump to Vice President Mike Pence is not "on the table right now" as Mr. Trump continues to receive treatment for COVID-19 at Walter Reed Medical Center.

"That's not something that's on the table at this point," O'Brien said on "Face the Nation" when asked whether there have been discussions about handing the powers of the presidency to the vice president.

"We have a great vice president, we have a government that is steady at the tiller." O'Brien said Mr. Trump will receive a national security briefing remotely Sunday afternoon and stressed that the government and the president are "doing well."

"So far the president is in great shape. He's firmly in command of the government of the country," he said.

WNU Editor: White House national security adviser Robert O'Brien sounds like someone who believes President Trump will be back in the White House very soon. He is also talking from experience. He tested positive for Covid-19 in July.
