80 British Soldiers Axed Just Short Of Drawing Their Full Pensions

80 Troops Axed Year Short Of Full Pension -- The SUN

MINISTERS sparked fury last night after admitting 80 soldiers have been sacked less than a year short of drawing their full pensions.

The heroes will now have to wait years before qualifying — and some of them will lose out on six-figure sums.

They are among more than 6,600 troops axed in defence cuts. If they have served 18 years they get an immediate pension — but if not they have to wait until at least 60.

Angry MPs said the decision “stinks” and demanded a rethink.

My Comment: If you served multiple tours and faced danger numerous times .... this is an outrage. If you are one of the pencil-pushers .... even though it is unfair .... consider yourself lucky to have a pension and wait till you are 60 like everyone else.

Army Major's Despair At Our 'Pointless War'

Strain: The emails reveal how morale has evaporated as the years of exhausting combat take its toll on troops

Army Major's Despair At Our 'Pointless War': Senior Officer's Damning Emails Reveal Plummeting Morale At Heart Of Afghan Campaign That Has Cost 409 British Lives -- Daily Mail

They are stark words that reveal the despair of our forces fighting in Afghanistan.

Emails sent to a former military chaplain paint a damning picture of sinking morale among Servicemen who feel the human cost of the conflict can no longer be justified.

Dr Peter Lee, a university lecturer who spent seven years as an RAF padre, has released the emails to highlight the extent of disillusionment within the ranks.

My Comment: And these sentiments are probably just the tip of the iceberg.

U.K. Army Morale 'At Its Worst For A Generation'

The Army is expected to bear the brunt of redundancies being announced by the MoD next week.

Army Morale 'At Its Worst For A Generation' As Job Losses Loom -- Daily Mail

A military charity has warned that Army morale is at its worst for a generation as the Ministry of Defence prepares next week to axe up to 4,500 more troops.

Crippling cuts to pay, allowances, pensions and housing, left soldiers and their loved ones 'demoralised', said the Army Families Federation.

It said 'black clouds of impending doom' were gathering as servicemen and women - thousands who have risked their lives in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya - faced the prospect of being sacked.

My Comment: I have never seen it this bad. This reminds me of the military that use to be part of the Soviet Union .... when the Union fragmented, a career in the military was rightly regarded as a waste of time.

Dressing "Pretty" In The British Military

Army Colonel Instructs Junior Officers To Dress More Like Princes William And Harry -- The Telegraph

An Army colonel has berated young officers over their appearance after claiming they dressed like semi finalists from TV programme The Apprentice.

In an extensive email, Colonel Barry Jenkins of the Royal Artillery Regiment instructed male officers to follow the lead set by Princes William and Harry when wearing civilian clothes.

He warned the subalterns to avoid cartoon character socks, the “silvery” shirts worn by Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker and shoes with treads like ‘four-wheel drives’.

He also told female officers that their make-up should not be excessive and, “most importantly”, hair should be tidy and presentable, adding: “The whole “train crash survivor” clambering the embankment look is unattractive and inelegant.”

My Comment: I personally believe that it is no one's business on how they dress in their off hours .... but the British military (being what it is today) .... considers this to be a more important issue than defense budget cuts, layoffs and firings, and national security.

Another Reason Why Morale Is Low In The British Army

Ambushed: Sapper Luke Allsopp (left) and Staff Sergeant Simon Cullingworth

Iraqi 'Killers' Of British Soldiers Given Legal Aid To Fight Being Tried At Home Because They Claim It Breaches Human Rights -- The Daily Mail

Two Iraqis accused of killing British prisoners of war have been awarded thousands in legal aid to fight being tried in their own country, it emerged today.

Faisal Al-Saadoon and Khalaf Mufdhi allegedly killed Sapper Luke Allsopp and Staff Sergeant Simon Cullingworth in cold blood in 2003, at the start of the Iraq war.

At the time, then Prime Minister Tony Blair described their deaths as an 'execution' and the two men have been held in British custody in Iraq ever since.

Now the Government want to hand them over to Iraq for trial but their lawyers have launched a High Court challenge, claiming this would breach their human rights.

My Comment: This is unbelievable. Wounded and main British soldiers are fighting with the bureaucracy to get extra money .... and the killers of British soldiers (killers that have committed war crimes) are provided funds for their defense. Priorities in the British Government are all screwed up.
