U.S. Troops From California Have Suffered More Casualties In Afghanistan Than From Any Other State

Since Operation Enduring Freedom - Afghanistan began in October of 2001, the United States has sustained more than 15,858 overall casualties (war injuries) and 1,526 killed-in-action fatalities, according to Pentagon records.

Hostile firefights, IEDs, suicide bombs, green-on-blue violence (Afghan forces turning on their Western allies), insurgent rocket attacks, and regrettable accidents are among the life-threatening risks that service members face. There is also one U.S. soldier, Pfc. Bowe R. Bergdahl of Idaho, who was captured in June 2009 is believed to be held as a prisoner of war. His whereabouts are unknown.

Allied Casualties In Iraq And Afghanistan

Allied Troop Deaths in Iraq Drop Below Those
in Afghanistan For Second Straight Month

You may not get this sense from the doom and gloom media but the coalition deaths in Afghanistan are on pace to equal the number lost last year.

The last 6 months in Iraq saw the lowest number of fatalities in a 6 month stretch since the start of the war in 2003.
And, for the second month in a row the number of troops killed in Iraq was lower than the number of coalition troops lost in Afghanistan.
The AP, of course, reported this as if it were bad news:

My Comment: Iraq will probably go down, but Afghanistan is clearly increasing.
