A retired three-star general is sticking by his claims that U.S. special operation forces died during an attack on a CIA computer facility in Germany that was stowing away info about an effort to flip votes from President Donald Trump to Joe Biden, even though top Army officials have heavily rebuked that such an attack occurred. 

Retired Air Force Lt. General Thomas McInerney's claims about the attack have been heavily circulated across social media platforms, with conspiracy theorists even offering that five soldiers killed in a Sinai helicopter crash had actually died in the clash with the CIA.

But both U.S. Army and U.S. Army Special Operations Command denied that such an attack occurred, the Military Times reports.

WNU Editor: I have never been impressed with US Sec. of State John Kerry's strategic thinking on international issues. And while this theory of a U.S. - Saudi secret agreement to drive down the price of oil to destabilize Iran and Russia is interesting .... I am sceptical that they are this dumb to not only plan it .... but to implement it. Russia and Iran know what hardship is .... and they are not afraid to implement economic pain on their population because they know that their citizens will fall in line. But if Saudi Arabia was to implement austerity measures on their population .... I am wiling to bet that they will be facing a lot of unrest.

My Comment: I know about the Russian tabloid that is pushing this conspiracy theory .... no one but the "uninformed" takes it seriously. Naimi's intervention last week after a two-month silence failed to address a question energy markets want answered: is the OPEC leader no longer willing to defend oil prices which have dived by a third to their lowest since 2010, and is it pursuing new commercial or even geopolitical goals?

Despite Naimi's insistance that Riyadh wants stable markets, diplomatic and market sources say Saudi officials told recent private briefings that the kingdom can live for some time with current, or even lower, levels.

If a meteor falls in the forest, and there's no one there to see it ... you can count on there being conspiracy theories for decades to follow. That was the case the last time something like this happened in Siberia. On June 30, 1908, something streaked across the sky above Russia and exploded over a densely wooded area near the Tunguska River -- much like the airburst explosion over Chelyabinsk this morning. The explosion in 1908, though, was considerably larger -- it leveled trees over an area several miles wide and the shockwave registered as a large earthquake.

Most scientists believe the Tunguska event, as it came to be known, was caused by a fragment of a comet that entered the atmosphere and exploded (people under the object's path through the atmosphere reported seeing a residual glow for days afterwards -- a phenomenon that could be explained by the composition of a comet, which is a mixture of ice and frozen gasses, rather than a rockier asteroid).
