Al Qaeda terrorists may have developed undetectable liquid bombs prompting America to evacuate its citizens from Yemen, it emerged today.

The explosive would be applied wet to clothing and then detonated when dry, according to senior US officials.

Security experts fear it would be completely undetectable using the current range of security devices operated at airports across the world.

Michael Yon Am told the enemy has started using IEDs that use no metal. As explained to me by an excellent source, when you step on the bomb, it causes two liquids to mix which then explode.

My Comment: My brother has a doctorate in Chemistry, and my discussions with him on the ease to manufacture and transport liquid explosives have always been truly frightful. If these explosives are being used and distributed in Afghanistan, it will only be a matter of time before they become not only the Taliban's ideal IED weapon of choice, but also a coveted product for Al Qaeda and other terror groups who have a history of targeting airplanes.

Drone Missile Strike Kills British 'Liquid-Bomb Plotter'

The alleged British mastermind of an audacious terrorist plot was killed yesterday by a missile strike in Pakistan.

Rashid Rauf, 27, who was brought up in Birmingham, was killed along with at least four other alleged militants in the attack on the house in the North Waziristan area.

Rauf, who had been on the run after escaping from Pakistani custody last year, had been accused of playing a key role in a liquid-bomb plot allegedly targeting transatlantic airliners in 2006. He had been arrested in Pakistan in August 2006.

Senior Pakistani government officials last night confirmed reports that Rauf had been killed by precision-guided missiles from a drone. The target was in the village of Alikhel, part of a district known as a stronghold for al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

My Comment: I originally was not going to put up this post. He is a young man who went astray .... resulting in his death from a missile strike. A minor man .... who got his just rewards. But when I think about it, he .... second to Osama bin laden .... is the man who has affected my (and probably yours) traveling life the most.

I travel a lot, and I find it annoying that I can no longer carry liquor or wines with me. But when I learned of the details of the liquid-bomb plot, I quickly realized that his idea of using liquid explosives is ingenious, and one in which (unfortunately) this type of threat still hangs over us.

Do I like the idea of removing my shoes, getting rid of my liquids, and being checked repeatedly .... the answer is no. But when I look at the alternatives, I an willing to live with the inconveniences, and tonight I will give thanks that this monster is now dead.
