Eurasian Times: China Delivers The Biggest-Ever, Most Advanced Naval Warship To Pakistan

While India is struck between countering both its northern and western rivals simultaneously, China and Pakistan’s navies have teamed up and signed another milestone agreement, in which four advanced warships would be delivered to Islamabad.

These ships are highly advanced guided-missile frigates and are the biggest vessels China has ever exported. The first ship was launched on Sunday and is one of the four vessels that Beijing plans to deliver to Islamabad.

According to Chinese media reports, the acquisition of the warships will increase the combat power and operational capabilities of the Pakistani Navy, and by 2021, three more would be supplied.

Forbes: Satellite Image Shows Pakistani Submarine With Chinese Navy

The Pakistan Navy recently parked one of its submarines in the middle of Chinese Navy warships visiting Karachi. The strong defense ties between Pakistan and China are well reported. Currently the Pakistani Navy is massively growing its submarine branch with eight Chinese-designed Type-039B Yuan Class boats. Parking the sub there shows that the two navies are sharing knowledge as well as hardware.

The presence of the submarine is evident in commercial satellite imagery. It is hard to spot by the untrained eye so it has taken time to confirm it. And we can now be sure that it was a Pakistani sub and not Chinese. I can positively identify the submarine as an Agosta-90B type submarine, which is only operated by the Pakistan Navy. They are known locally as the Hashmat-class.

Forbes: Pakistan Navy Keeps Silent On Mystery Submarine But New Details Emerge

The Pakistani Navy has not yet officially acknowledged the submarine sitting on the quay outside its special forces headquarters. The submarine was first revealed on Forbes in April. Since then further satellite images have emerged. These provide additional clues about the unidentified boat.

But more significantly, there may have been a social media leak from an official Twitter account.

On July 3, Rear Admiral M Arshid Javed, Director General Public Relations for the Pakistan Navy, shared a video of a passing out parade. In the video new operatives of the Special Services Group Navy (SSG-N) special forces unit are parading and receiving awards. They are marching in the parade square at PNS Iqbal, the SSG-N’s headquarters and training base. For the first three seconds of the video part of the mystery submarine is visible in the background.

Pakistan has test-fired its first submarine-launched cruise missile, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and the country's military says it gives them a credible second strike capability.

The missile was fired from an underwater mobile platform and hit its target with precise accuracy, said Pakistan's military spokesman.

He confirmed the missile, with a range of 280 miles, could carry a nuclear warhead.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistan successfully tested an improved intermediate-range ballistic missile early on Wednesday, according to a statement by the Pakistani military.

The test launch came six days after India, the country’s regional archrival, test-fired an Agni 5, a long-range ballistic missile that is also capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. Pakistani military and defense analysts said that their missile test was not in response to India’s, which was seen as focused on China. The Agni 5 tested last week was capable of reaching Beijing and Shanghai.

Bad weather is hampering efforts to find 135 people two days after they were buried in an avalanche at a remote Pakistani army base, as international teams arrived in the country to help rescue attempts.

A high-altitude search and rescue specialist team arrived from the US on Sunday but was stranded in the capital Islamabad on Monday as bad weather closed in on the Siachen glacier, a frozen corner of Kashmir where Pakistani and Indian troops face off against each other.

There now seems little chance that any of the soldiers and 11 civilians will be found alive. They were buried beneath tons of rock, snow and ice at their mountain headquarters, some 16,000ft above sea level, on Saturday morning.
