Will President Trump Boycott Biden's Inauguration And Instead Announce That He Will Be Running In 2024?
Workers construct a viewing stand in front of the White House on Saturday ahead of the inauguration
* Three sources told The Daily Beast Trump is plotting ways to boycott Biden's administration and inauguration
* Sources said Trump is considering timing a kick-off event for his 2024 White House campaign to clash with inauguration week or with the ceremony itself
* This would be a marked departure from protocol with the outgoing president traditionally attending the incoming president's inauguration
* The tradition is part of a peaceful transition of power - a grace then-President Barack Obama and Vice President Biden both afforded Trump back in 2017
* Obama and Trump were even seen sharing a joke on the steps of the US capitol
* Obama wrote a letter congratulating Trump and offering his support for his coming term - something Trump called 'beautiful' at the time
* Trump took a break from his election legal battle over Thanksgiving weekend to play a round of golf at his club in Sterling, Virginia, Saturday
* This week he finally admitted he would leave the White House in January if the electoral college certifies votes
* He then said Biden can only enter the White House if he proves votes are not 'fraudulent'
* Sources said Trump is already planning his comeback 2024 campaign
Donald Trump is said to be considering holding an event during the president-elect's inauguration to announce his 2024 run and has boasted that he thinks the networks will continue to cover him after he leaves the White House because Joe Biden is 'boring'.
Three sources close to the president told The Daily Beast he is plotting various ways to boycott Biden's administration and steal his thunder when he is sworn in as the 46th president of the United States in January.
Two of the sources said Trump is considering timing a kick-off event for his 2024 White House campaign to clash with inauguration week or with the ceremony itself.

WNU Editor: There is a lot of speculation in the above Daily Mail post. What's my take. I doubt that President Trump will commit to another Presidential round this soon. He will continue to work to maintain his influence in the party, and will probably assess the situation in 2023 over making another round at the Presidency.
On a side note .... 2024: Trump already tops Biden 4-1 in betting markets, but odds favor Harris (Washington Examiner).
Was President Trump The One Force That Kept The Democratic Party Together?

Christopher Caldwell, The New Republic: The Biden Popular Front Is Doomed to Unravel
It may turn out that Donald Trump was the one force keeping the Democratic Party together.
It’s lucky that votes usually don’t get counted till late at night. Victorious presidential candidates have two audiences to speak to. Their zealous volunteers generally get little reward other than the sense, inculcated over months of battle, that they are fighting to vanquish the forces of evil. On election night, they expect someone to extol their bravery and ruthlessness, and to hold aloft the head of the vanquished foe. It’s preferable if this can be done while the rest of the country is either sleeping or weepily watching its own candidate concede. When, days later, the president-elect pivots to flatter the whole country and extend an olive branch to his rivals, his loyal followers can feel jilted.

WNU Editor: My must read post for today.
IMHO the Democrats are on course to fracture. There are too many conflicting interests, and expectations are high from each group that their concerns will be prioritized. I do not see that happening, and definitely not under Joe Biden. And with Trump gone, who will they focus their animosity now?
A long time reader of this blog told me last week that in this election 30% of the Democrat electoral base made a decision to give the Democrats one more chance to govern. A last hurrah for a party that they have supported for decades but is now ideologically shifting away from them. I thought about that for a few days, and I then asked some of my Democrat friends. They agreed. They wanted Trump gone, but their vote came with a condition. That if the Biden-Harris administration fails .... primarily on the economy .... it would be the straw that broke the camel's back, and they would then desert the party or sit out in future elections.
I am not sure about that 30% percentage. But I do sense that sentiment growing among some of my Democrat friends who voted for Biden in this election and who are now wondering on what will happen next. My guess is that we will know the answers to all of these questions when the midterms arrive in 2022, and the next Presidential election in 2024.
Mexico’s President Still Refuses To Recognize Biden's Presidential Win
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Wednesday again declined to congratulate Joe Biden for winning the U.S. presidential election, making him stand out increasingly among world leaders who have withheld their recognition.
Speaking shortly after China’s President Xi Jinping congratulated Biden for his victory, Lopez Obrador reiterated that it would be wrong to offer congratulations until the electoral process has been formally concluded.
“We do not agree with offering congratulations in advance,” Lopez Obrador told reporters at a regular government news conference. “What’s the best thing? For us to wait.”

Update: Mexico’s President Still Refuses to Recognize Biden Win (Legal Insurrection)
WNU Editor: Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador believes election fraud and ballot stuffing was used to defeat him when he ran for the Presidency in 2012. He knows first hand what election fraud looks like, and will refrain from saying anything about the US election until after U.S. state electors make it official in December that Biden is the next US President.
Remember When President Obama Said Mail-In Ballots Can Only Be Trusted If The Signatures Are Verified

Update: The science of scanning these signatures is also dubious .... Georgia Requires Signature Matching On Mail-In Ballots, But The Science Is Dubious (Forbes). And since over 750,000 mail-in ballots have already been requested in Georgia for two Senate elections, I cannot help but feel that we are going to see another fight over mail-in ballot harvesting and the legitimacy of the result.
Utah Monolith Disappears, Possibly Stolen At Night
A mysterious monolith that was found in the remote Utah desert has been removed by an 'unknown party', according to officials

A mysterious monolith that was found in the remote Utah desert has been removed by an 'unknown party' after its sudden arrival sparked theories it was left by aliens.
The shiny triangular pillar, which protruded approximately 12 feet from the red rocks in southern Utah, was spotted last Wednesday by baffled local officials counting bighorn sheep from the air.
However the three-sided structure was removed by 'an unknown party' on Friday evening, the Bureau of Land Management Utah said in a statement.

Will The Assassination Of The Scientist Who Led Iran's Nuclear Weapon's Program Cripple Biden's Efforts To Revive The Nuclear Deal?
Mohsen Fakhrizadeh - dubbed the 'father' of Iran's bomb programme - was shot dead in his car by 12 highly-trained assassins following an explosion in the city of Absard, 50 miles east of Tehran. Pictured: Ebrahim Raisi - head of Iran's judiciary - and family members of Fakhrizadeh stand by his body
DNYZ: Israel’s Gamble: If Assassination Fails to Set Back Iran’s Nuclear Program, Blowing Up Deal Is Easy
WASHINGTON — The assassination of the scientist who led Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear weapon for the past two decades threatens to cripple President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s effort to revive the Iran nuclear deal before he can even begin his diplomacy with Tehran.
And that may well have been a main goal of the operation.

WNU Editor: The assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh will impede Ian's nuclear program for the short term. But will it impede diplomatic efforts to revive the nuclear deal? Not really. If a Biden administration moves to remove sanctions to restart negotiations the Iranians will embrace it. But the problem has always been the same. As long as Iran limits inspections nor curtail its efforts to develop missile systems to deliver nuclear warheads, what's the point of having a deal.
Israeli Diplomatic Missions On High Alert For After Iran Retaliation Threats

Jerusalem Post: Israel raises alert level in delegations abroad
Iran has tried to target embassy personnel in the past.
Fearing an Iranian response to the assassination on Friday of its top nuclear scientist, Israel increased security at its embassies across the globe.
The heightened state of alert was said to be over concern that Iran – known to have terrorist infrastructure in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America – would try to hit an Israeli target to avenge the killing of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, its top nuclear scientist, which the Islamic Republic has blamed on Israel.
Jewish communities around the world were also said to have been instructed to be more vigilant.
Iran’s options vary. It could try to attack an Israeli embassy like it did in 1992 following the killing of Hezbollah’s leader Abbas Musawi in southern Lebanon by Israel.
At the time, an Iranian cell blew up a powerful car bomb outside the Israel Embassy in Buenos Aires, killing 29 people, including three Israeli embassy personnel, six local embassy employees and scores of innocent Argentineans, including elderly residents of a nearby nursing home and schoolchildren.

Tough Times For The Russian Economy
Financial district of western Moscow. Kirill Zykov / Moskva News Agency
The economic consequences of Covid-19 are becoming clearer, and they aren't good.
The number of Russians in poverty is projected to grow by about a million by the end of 2020, with the overall economy due to fall as much as 4.5%.
That's according to the Chairman of the Accounts Chamber and former Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin, who revealed on Saturday the current projections for the state of the country's finances.
