Russia's Top National Security Official: 'U.S. Is After Russia's Resource Wealth'

Reuters: Putin's top security adviser says U.S. is after Russia's minerals

The head of Russia's Security Council said in a newspaper interview published on Tuesday that the United States wanted a weakened Russia so as to gain access to its vast mineral resources.

The attack on the United States by Nikolai Patrushev came against a background of anti-Western rhetoric by Moscow following imposition of sanctions by Washington and the European Union over Moscow's role in Ukraine's crisis.

In an interview with BBC Panorama aired on Monday night, Adam Szubin, acting U.S. Treasury secretary for terrorism and financial crimes, accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of amassing secret wealth by corrupt practices over "many, many years".

"The United States' leadership has set a goal of global dominance," Patrushev, a former head of Russia's FSB state security service and a long-standing ally of Putin, told the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper in an interview on its website.

"They don't need a strong Russia. On the contrary, they need to weaken our country as much as possible. To achieve this goal, the Russian Federation's disintegration is not ruled out as well," Patrushev said.

"This will open access to the richest resources for the United States, which believes that Russia possesses them undeservingly."

WNU Editor: Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev rarely says anything publicly ... that is why these remarks are a surprise. But everyone knows that the U.S. cannot just walk in and grab Russia's resources .... it just does not work that way. My guess is that he is "peeved-off" with yesterday's US Treasury accusations that Putin is corrupt .... because if Putin is corrupt it would also then mean that his inner circle is also corrupt .... including one Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.

Nikolai Patrushev is a funny man.

With all the stories of China and Saudi Arabia buying U.S. land, we are suppose to believe him?

Las Vegas is calling,

WNU Editor,

In the aftermath of the Soviet Collapse there was a "Western" attempt at a Russian "gold rush" in the form of questionable "joint partnerships" and dummy Corporations.

Sadly, the Western Corporations discovered that despite their "preference" for Gangster Capitalism, under "Gangster Capitalism" the actual gangsters with actual guns tend to win during the merger's and aqquisitions periods.

There is probably something to it, judging from the way the US has gone overboard demonizing Russia. That's especially the case of the top brass in the Pentagon. It's "The Russians Are Coming."
China generally gets a pass as a "threat to the US," but Russia doesn't. It's gotten worse since the "Iran threat" has been reduced.

It's all hokum, of curse, but the Pentagon needs dire threats to pump up its budget, and give the corrupt government-owned Congress-critters some talking points.

No time in post WWll has there been more threats to the modern western civilization then what is faced today by the likes of China, Russia, Daesh, NK, Iran and the general breakdown of global rule of law. The despots, both elected/chosen and by fanatical cell are in ascension.
Until we realize such, we have no hope to conquer it.

Really?

Really?

Really?

Look at Japan, China & Brasil.

They have strict rules on foreign corporations.

Brasil patterned themselves after Japan.

Jay, is there an American take over of Japan?

If not then there is not one of Brasil.

Or of China.

Go fly a kite. You'll do less harm.
