Reuters: Putin ally: West increasing risk of weapons of mass destruction being used 

MOSCOW (Reuters) -Nikolai Patrushev, a powerful ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said on Wednesday that the "destructive" policies of the United States and its allies were increasing the risk that nuclear, chemical or biological weapons would be used. 

Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has led to the most serious confrontation between Moscow and the West since the 1962 Cuban missile crisis, and the post-Cold War arms control architecture has crumbled. 

The West says the war in Ukraine is a Russian imperial-style land grab. The Kremlin says the conflict is part of a broader struggle with a declining West which it accuses of sowing chaos around the world to try to maintain its dominance. 

Patrushev said the post-Cold War order, including the dominance of the United States, was waning.

"We express a very serious concern over this clearly dangerous situation that threatens to turn into a global disaster, if it is not stopped," Nikolay Patrushev warned 

MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. Kiev is putting together a ‘dirty bomb’ with the West’s participation and the situation will turn into a disaster if it is not stopped, Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolay Patrushev said at a meeting of CIS security chiefs on Thursday. 

"According to the available data, Ukraine is carrying out work to create a ‘dirty’ nuclear charge. We believe that this process is taking place with the participation of Western patrons. In this regard, we express a very serious concern over this clearly dangerous situation that threatens to turn into a global catastrophe, if it is not stopped," the Russian security chief warned.

WNU Editor: Nikolay Patrushev is IMHO second to Putin on who is ruling Russia. I interpret his remarks as an indirect warning to the U.K., and to the U.S.. That if a dirty bomb is used, the Kremlin will be blaming London and Washington DC.

Reuters: Putin's top security adviser says U.S. is after Russia's minerals

The head of Russia's Security Council said in a newspaper interview published on Tuesday that the United States wanted a weakened Russia so as to gain access to its vast mineral resources.

The attack on the United States by Nikolai Patrushev came against a background of anti-Western rhetoric by Moscow following imposition of sanctions by Washington and the European Union over Moscow's role in Ukraine's crisis.

In an interview with BBC Panorama aired on Monday night, Adam Szubin, acting U.S. Treasury secretary for terrorism and financial crimes, accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of amassing secret wealth by corrupt practices over "many, many years".

"The United States' leadership has set a goal of global dominance," Patrushev, a former head of Russia's FSB state security service and a long-standing ally of Putin, told the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper in an interview on its website.

"They don't need a strong Russia. On the contrary, they need to weaken our country as much as possible. To achieve this goal, the Russian Federation's disintegration is not ruled out as well," Patrushev said.

"This will open access to the richest resources for the United States, which believes that Russia possesses them undeservingly."

WNU Editor: Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev rarely says anything publicly ... that is why these remarks are a surprise. But everyone knows that the U.S. cannot just walk in and grab Russia's resources .... it just does not work that way. My guess is that he is "peeved-off" with yesterday's US Treasury accusations that Putin is corrupt .... because if Putin is corrupt it would also then mean that his inner circle is also corrupt .... including one Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.
