THE Army is thrashing out emergency plans to recover British tanks if they are damaged in Ukraine — to stop their top secret armour and technology falling into Russian hands.
The fearsome Challenger 2s are protected by world-beating Chobham armour made from a secret blend of ceramics, steel and shock-absorbing compounds. Britain led the world by pledging 14 Challenger 2s to Ukraine — but defence sources say it would be a nightmare if one was captured by Vladimir Putin’s invaders.
His military scientists would then be free to study the armour and how to defeat it. A source explained: “The British armour is the best in the world.
“In the history of Challenger 2s only one has been destroyed in battle and that was by friendly fire in Iraq.

The US has a different plan on making sure their armor does not fall into Russian hands. Just do not send tanks with that type of armor .... Not going to work. What a dream
The Conservative Party want to be seen to be the 1st to deliver British tanks for political reasons. There's the possibility that they'll be destroyed on the way up to the front or captured in the coming offensive. The US tanks won't get there in time. There's a good chance that the war will be over by next year. The offer of US tanks was probably a ruse to get the Europeans to send in their tanks. Will the Germans take a year to refurbish & send in the panzers? Keep ducking

Smart not to send US specified tanks to the most corrupt country in Europe. They’ll need the same caution with the fighter jets. But the whole tank argument is idiotic. We send the Ukraine brand new M1s but without a critical advantage. Along with the huge disadvantage of massive fuel consumption and complexity.
/maybe Putin we’ll sell Zelensky the MRAPs he’s gotten from the AFG garage sale.
