New York Times Says Russia Is Pushing Forward In Its New Offensive In Northeast Ukraine

New York Times: ‘They Shoot Without Stopping:’ Where Russia Is on the Attack in Ukraine

Three Russian attack helicopters swooped in low over the city of Kreminna, strafing Ukrainian frontline positions just outside the city. Russian drones circled overhead while Moscow’s ground forces fired heavy machine guns to flush out Ukrainians from foxholes hidden in the dappled light of the pine forest.

As exploding artillery shells shook the ground around him on Saturday morning, Vlad, a 27-year-old Ukrainian drone operator, spotted a Russian armored personnel carrier bringing more troops to the battle. It was a possible prelude, he said, to another assault.

“They are constantly attacking us,” said Lt. Col. Matviychuk Oleh, a 49-year-old battalion commander with Ukraine’s 100th Territorial Defense Brigade. “They are looking for a weak place and then they storm.”

WNU Editor: This report makes the New York Times the first major Western news outlet yo admit that there is a major Russian counteroffensive in northeast Ukraine. WNU has been reporting on this offensive for the past few days.

And while the New York Times is saying that Russian advances are minor and being accomplished at great costs, I am reading reports frm sources that I trust that the Ukraine front-lines along this part of the front have collapsed, the Ukraine army is withdrawing, and that in some cases Russian forces have advanced over 10km along a major section of the front.

This is the first major Russian offensive since the start of the war. It involves over 100,000 soldiers, heavily backed by armor and air superiority.

Here is an easy prediction. I expect more Western coverage in the coming days.

I will say this , this is not a celebration, but it is a validation of what we have been saying is true ...that in thnelong run, Ukrainians were not going to Win this thing...

and the GS Hanover info ops boys, pro Ukrainian faction, and Blob narrative repeaters have been saying is wrong. Way wrong.

If the Russians were so incompetent , poorly trained , with failed leadership are doing this.new offensive..how is that fing possible?

Easy,

We were lied to.

All those glowing reports af russian mass losses, poorly trained troops and massive surrenders have been lies.

All the reports. of: Ukrainian mastery, better equipment, better training, fewer casualties, and strength in fire power were only partly true, but supported a larger lie that the Ukrainians were winning this war.

The hard corps sanctions that were going to bring Russia to its knees. Those were all lies too.

No I am not a troll.

No I am not pro Putin

No I am not pro russian.

This is just calling it like it is.

Like they used to say In the Military...

when the situation is really ugly...

Just tell them the facts and

let the facts speak for them selves.

what above is not true?

But we are told by so many people commenting at this site that the NY Times was a lying, misleading commie paper! Are we to believe this?

You have been on this blog many times , so you have read how to analyze news. Which means.....

You are not very bright or purposely uninformed.

So I will spell it out for you.

If it was the initial report.....No you are not to believe it.

But with this story now being confirmed by both opposing sides , It has a 90% chance of being true.

Stop trying to confuse the issue. Or is it you do not read outside you ideological spectrum and prefer to live in an echo chamber?

sounds to me that Russia has figured out complicated combined force deployment. This ability, which the USA has mastered, seemed to be missing in Russia's initial invasion. Good thing our leadership pushed for this war so Russia could catch up.

The first major Russian offensive since the start of the war? This is actually the third since the first actual invasion (meaning it is the fourth overall). WNU Editor predicted the previous two were going to surround and annihilate the entire Ukrainian army (which of course did not happen). So he probably wants us to forget about that. So this amazingly becomes the "first" as the others ones are presumably (and posthumously) downgraded from major to minor.

There is a reason Ukraine did not make the Luhansk front its main theatre of operations. It isn't decisive. And the Russians will have a far way to go before it becomes strategically important. In the meantime, all the Russians are doing are exposing more of their men to open fire for dubious gains in the hopes it'll cause the Ukrainians to commit their strategic reserves. But I admit that is a possibility. We'll have to see.

In the meantime, we now have very good evidence that Russian artillery superiority has disappeared. There are just too many Russian complaints about lack of counter battery fire to ignore it now. And documented Russian artillery losses far exceed Ukrainian ones. While they still have more systems than Ukraine, in terms of effective artillery use the Ukrainians have either reached parity or a slight edge. That will probably strengthen in the coming months. The Russians will be able to replace the lost artillery systems (especially towed) fairly easily by pulling older systems from their storage, but the lost of trained crews will be much harder. This will probably be far more important than Russia making some tactically significant advances in the Luhansk area.

Plus let's be clear, the Russians do not have air superiority. They do have a much larger air force, but they are not using it over Ukrainian airspace because they know it'll get slaughtered by Ukrainian air defense. It's the same reason Ukraine does not risk their air fleet over Russian occupied territory. So both sides control their own airspace and do not contest the other side. It's a stalemate despite the Russian advantage in numbers. As long as Russia is not attempting to gain actual control over Ukrainian air space, the correct term to use is air parity. The INABILITY of Russia to gain air superiority has been one of the major surprises of this war.

the question that still needs to be answered.

a. Why all the blathering of Russias ariforce being destroyed six months ago. by people on this blog.

b. Why have not the russians used thier airforce in a significant way?
