Hezbollah Leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah Warns Israel Against Launching A Full-Scale War On Lebanon

Washington Post: Hezbollah leader vows ‘punishment’ after killing of Hamas official in Lebanon

BEIRUT — In an anxiously anticipated speech Wednesday, Hasan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group and political party, promised there would be a “response and punishment” to the assassination of a senior Hamas official in Beirut on Tuesday that was ascribed to Israel and raised fears of a wider regional war.

The official, Saleh Arouri, was the highest-ranking Hamas leader killed since the start of the conflict in October, when Hamas militants flooded into Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking some 240 hostages.

The location of the strike Tuesday — in Dahieh, a densely populated residential neighborhood on the edge of Beirut where Hezbollah holds sway — was seen as especially provocative.

It compounded concerns that the Lebanese militants, who have traded fire with Israel along their shared border but avoided all-out war, might feel compelled to ratchet up their response.

Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah Warns The U.S. To Halt Israel's Gaza Attacks Or Risk A Regional War

Reuters: Hezbollah tells U.S. to halt Israel's Gaza attack to prevent regional war

BEIRUT (Reuters) - The leader of Lebanon's Hezbollah warned the United States on Friday that preventing a regional conflict depended on stopping the Israeli attack on Gaza, and said there was a possibility of fighting on the Lebanese front turning into a full-fledged war.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, in his first speech since the Israel-Hamas war erupted on Oct. 7, also threatened Israel's main ally the United States, hinting his Iran-backed group was ready to confront U.S. warships in the Mediterranean.

"You, the Americans, can stop the aggression against Gaza because it is your aggression. Whoever wants to prevent a regional war, and I am talking to the Americans, must quickly halt the aggression on Gaza," Nasrallah said.

Israeli And Saudi Reports Say Hezbollah's Nasrallah Has Suffered A Stroke

Jerusalem Post: Hezbollah's Nasrallah suffers second stroke, hospitalized in Beirut

Nasrallah canceled a Friday speech after the Lebanese terror group said he had fallen ill with influenza.

Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah was rushed to intensive care after suffering a stroke, according to reports from Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.

The reports came after Nasrallah canceled a planned Friday speech, with the Lebanese terrorist organization announcing through its affiliated media he had fallen ill with influenza and was unable to speak well.

Saudi journalist Hussein al-Gawi contradicted Hezbollah's statement, claiming that Nasrallah indeed suffered a second stroke instead of falling ill as was reported.

The Hezbollah leader was reportedly hospitalized at the Great Prophet Hospital in Beirut.

Iran Has Told Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah To Unite Iranian-Backed Militias In Iraq After Soleimani's Death

Paramilitary groups in Iraq have agreed to accept Hadi al-Amiri, right, as the new leader of the PMF, including those loyal to anti-Iran cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, left (Reuters)

Middle East Eye: EXCLUSIVE: Iran tasked Nasrallah with uniting Iraqi proxies after Soleimani's death

Hezbollah leader sponsors 'truce' talks, with Iraqi paramilitaries endorsing Hadi al-Amiri as PMF leader and Tehran courting Moqtada al-Sadr in bid to form 'united resistance'.

The leaders of Iranian-backed paramilitary groups in Iraq have agreed to put their differences aside and back Hadi al-Amiri as the new chairman of the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) as part of a wider plan brokered by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah to quell tensions between the groups and create a “united resistance” to US troops in the country.

The informal agreement was forged at a meeting convened in Beirut on Thursday after Nasrallah was asked by Iran to organise its Iraqi factions following the assassinations of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the de facto leader of the PMF, in a US drone strike in Baghdad on 3 January.

WNU Editor: If Hadi al-Amiri is now the new Iraq leader of the PMF, this is an ominous sign. It is people like him who are primarily responsible for the violence directed at Iraq's anti-government protesters who are frustrated with Baghdad's corruption and incompetence. He also despised by Iraq's Sunni and Kurdish communities, who are going to see his appointment as a signal of more Iranian backed violence directed at them. One more point that I got from the above article. Iran is also no longer hiding what they are doing in Iraq. They are making their intentions very clear that they will use their militias to assert control on the country.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah labelled America 'the Great Satan' in a speech Sunday, as he vowed revenge for Qassem Soleimani's death and cited The Washington Post's criticism of Donald Trump.

The Lebanese secretary-general called the president 'the biggest liar in America's history' a week after saying all US bases, all warships and every single soldier in the region is now a target.

Nasrallah Orders Hezbollah Leaders To Cut All Communications With Syria

Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah

From CBS News:

Informed sources told al-Qanat that tensions have arisen between Iran- Hezbollah, and Syria, after the assassination in Damascus last February of Imad Mughnieh, when the Syrians refused to allow Iran or Hezbollah take part in the investigations.

The strategic relations between Damascus and Tehran (and Hezbollah) began to deteriorate and became altered by mistrust and suspicion. It seems that the doubts raised by Hezbollah about a Syrian role in selling of Mughnieh to Israel has gone beyond the leadership of the Syrian intelligence in Damascus, to include its agents in Lebanon, specifically in Beirut's southern suburb, as Hezbollah rounded up dozens of Syrians on suspicion of links with the Syrian intelligence, and subjected them to Lengthy investigations and interrogations.

My Comments: Something is afoot. With the Iraq war dying down, other Arab countries putting pressure on Syria to tow the line, and with Iran being .... well Iran, the Syrian government is probably sensing a shift in the Middle East.

Being a radical may have been popular in the past five years, but it is not a good idea now. The people of the Middle East want something better .... I am sure that they are getting tired of perpetual conflict and being told what to do by religious mullahs.
