Hezbollah's Head Of Drone Operations Killed In Israeli Strike

Times Of Israel: Hezbollah drone chief behind attacks on north killed in alleged Israeli strike

Strike on Ali Hussein Barji, at funeral of another slain terror commander, comes after drone attack on IDF Northern Command headquarters

A senior Hezbollah commander responsible for dozens of explosive drone attacks on northern Israel in recent months, including an attack Tuesday morning on an Israel Defense Forces base, was killed later Tuesday in an alleged Israeli airstrike in the south of Lebanon.

The spike in violence comes despite efforts by the international community to keep the fighting across Israel’s northern border from escalating into a full-blown conflict.

Israeli Defense Minister Gallant Warns: If Hezbollah Isn’t Deterred, Israel Can ‘Copy-Paste’ Gaza War To Beirut

Amid US deescalation efforts, defense minister tells WSJ the fight against Hamas must serve to dissuade other Iran-backed proxies in the region from launching their own attacks

Israel isn’t afraid to go to war with the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon if push comes to shove, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant told the Wall Street Journal in an interview on Sunday.

Defending the need for Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza, Gallant explained that among other purposes, it will serve to warn Iran and its proxies away from launching similar attacks in the future.

Confidential US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) Report Says Israel Will Unlikely Win Against Hezbollah In A Two Front War

The Telegraph: Confidential US report finds Israel unlikely to win against Hezbollah on second front

Israel is unlikely to win a war against the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah if it decides to open a new front on its northern border, according to a confidential report by US intelligence.

The US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) found that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would be too stretched by fighting on two fronts, with the air force already overworked by constant raids on Gaza.

IDF pilots would face far more dangerous missions going up against Hezbollah’s powerful air defences, the DIA warned, according to a report in the Washington Post.

Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging cross-border fire on a daily basis since Oct 8, when the Lebanese group started operations in solidarity with Hamas.

U.S. Trying To Prevent A Full-Blown War From Erupting Between Israel And Hezbollah

Israel’s talk of expanding war to Lebanon alarms U.S. © Avi Ohayon/AP

Washington Post: Israel’s talk of expanding war to Lebanon alarms U.S.

ISTANBUL — President Biden has dispatched his top aides to the Middle East with a critical objective: Prevent a full-blown war from erupting between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

Israel has made clear it views as untenable the regular exchange of fire between its forces and Hezbollah along the border and may soon launch a major military operation in Lebanon.

“We prefer the path of an agreed-upon diplomatic settlement,” Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Friday, “but we are getting close to the point where the hourglass will turn over.”

U.S. officials are concerned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may see an expanded fight in Lebanon as key to his political survival amid domestic criticism of his government’s failure to prevent Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack, which killed an estimated 1,200 people and resulted in some 240 hostages being taken to Gaza.

But it has now been confirmed to be back in use after being photographed over northern Israel on Saturday.

Border War Between Israel And Hezbollah Is Intensifying

Reuters: Israel, Hezbollah trade fire across Lebanon border amid alarm over Gaza war spillover

JERUSALEM/BEIRUT/ISTANBUL (Reuters) -Lebanon's Iranian-backed Hezbollah group said on Saturday it had fired rockets at Israel and its arch-foe said it had struck a "terrorist cell" in retaliation, as top U.S. and EU diplomats visited the region to seek ways to halt spillover from the war.

Shortly after rocket sirens sounded across northern Israel, the Israeli military said that "approximately 40 launches from Lebanon toward the area of Meron in northern Israel were identified". There were no reports of casualties or damage.

Hezbollah Leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah Warns Israel Against Launching A Full-Scale War On Lebanon

Washington Post: Hezbollah leader vows ‘punishment’ after killing of Hamas official in Lebanon

BEIRUT — In an anxiously anticipated speech Wednesday, Hasan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group and political party, promised there would be a “response and punishment” to the assassination of a senior Hamas official in Beirut on Tuesday that was ascribed to Israel and raised fears of a wider regional war.

The official, Saleh Arouri, was the highest-ranking Hamas leader killed since the start of the conflict in October, when Hamas militants flooded into Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking some 240 hostages.

The location of the strike Tuesday — in Dahieh, a densely populated residential neighborhood on the edge of Beirut where Hezbollah holds sway — was seen as especially provocative.

It compounded concerns that the Lebanese militants, who have traded fire with Israel along their shared border but avoided all-out war, might feel compelled to ratchet up their response.

Daily Mail: White House demands more information after Israel 'used US-made white phosphorous during attack on Lebanon that injured nine'

* Israel has used white phosphorous in attacks on southern Lebanon

* Rights groups say that on at least one occasion it amounted to a war crime

The White House is concerned about allegations that Israel used white phosphorus supplied by the U.S. during an attack in southern Lebanon, a spokesman said Monday.

Weapons packed with white phosphorous are not banned under international law but are tightly regulated because of the way they can cause horrific burns.

An investigation published Monday accused the U.S. of supplying munitions that wounded nine civilians in an attack in October.
