US Secretary Of State Anthony Blinken Says The Post-Cold World Order Is Now Over

The Press United: The Old World Order is over – Blinken

Washington must preserve its leadership “from a position of strength,” the US Secretary of State has claimed

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has claimed that the world is transitioning to a new diplomatic order in which Washington must lead the way in overcoming increasing threats from Russia and China by working with its allies to build trust among nations for whom the old system failed.

“One era is ending, a new one is beginning, and the decisions that we make now will shape the future for decades to come,” Blinken said on Wednesday in a speech at John Hopkins University in Washington. He said the “post-Cold War order” ended as “decades of relative geopolitical stability have given way to an intensifying competition with authoritarian powers.”

Namely, those powers are led by Russia and China, Blinken said, adding that “Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine is the most immediate, the most acute threat to the international order.” China poses the biggest long-term challenge, he claimed, because it aspires to reshape the international order and is developing the economic, diplomatic, military and technological power to do so.

Update #2: Growing US’ competition with Russia, China, marks end of previous world order — Blinken (TASS)

WNU Editor: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's remarks is receiving zero coverage in the Western media. But he is stating the obvious. The world as we know has changed.

In this new "World Order" I see primarily two blocks forming. The first block will represent about 15% of the world's population and be dominated by what we commonly call the West. As for the other 85%, they will look at alliances and organizations like the BRICS that are not dominated by the West nor subservient to Western interests.

It did not have to be like this.

I have mentioned it before in this blog. But if trends continue history will judge this U.S. administration's foreign policy to be a disaster. Maybe the worse in US history.

We are now involved in numerous conflicts around the world, and these conflicts are only intensifying. The anti-US/Western mood around the globe is also something that I have never seen at this level in my lifetime, and I do not see it ending anytime soon.

The West needs new leadership, new policies, and a new approach to how it deals with the world. Developing a mindset of mutual respect with other nations and what are their priorities will be a good start. If not. We are going to be entering an era that is going to be incredible unstable and dangerous and one that future generations will suffer for.

Chinese President Xi And Russian President Putin Pledge To Shape A New World Order

NBC/Reuters: Xi and Putin pledge to shape a new world order as the Chinese leader leaves Russia with no peace in sight for Ukraine

The White House said China’s position was not impartial and urged Beijing to pressure Russia to withdraw from Ukraine.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin set their sights on shaping a new world order as the Chinese leader left Moscow on Wednesday, having made no direct support for Putin’s war in Ukraine during his two-day visit.

Xi made a strong show of solidarity with Putin against the West, but he barely mentioned the Ukraine conflict and said on Tuesday that China had an “impartial position”. There was no sign that Xi’s efforts to play the role of peacemaker had yielded results.

Yet, as Xi departed he told Putin: “Now there are changes that haven’t happened in 100 years. When we are together, we drive these changes.”

“I agree,” Putin said, to which Xi responded: “Take care of yourself dear friend, please.”

WNU Editor: US President Nixon went to China in 1972 (link here) to pursue a policy to make sure that Russia and China do not partner-up, and for 50 years US presidents have been successful in keeping both countries apart. The Guardian: Xi Jinping says China ready to ‘stand guard over world order’ as he lands in Moscow

Chinese leader expected to position himself as peacemaker as Vladimir Putin welcomes his ‘good old friend’

Xi Jinping said China was ready with Russia “to stand guard over the world order based on international law” as he landed in Moscow for a state visit days after Vladimir Putin was made the subject of an arrest warrant by the international criminal court.

The Chinese leader is expected to position himself as a potential peacemaker in the Ukraine war during his first state visit to Russia since Putin’s invasion. For his part, the Russian president will be hoping to project unity in the face of western isolation.

BlackRock Says 'We've Entered Into A New World Order'

Fortune: BlackRock says throw out your old investment playbook, we’re headed for a ‘new regime of greater macro and market volatility’

BlackRock’s top minds seem worried. Investment strategists at the world’s largest asset manager warned of a coming recession, stubborn inflation, and a new era that won’t be so kind to investors in their 2023 Global Outlook released this week.

“The Great Moderation, the four-decade period of largely stable activity and inflation, is behind us,” vice chairman Philipp Hildebrand and a team of top executives wrote. “The new regime of greater macro and market volatility is playing out. A recession is foretold.”

Hildebrand and his team argue that the Great Moderation—a period of low inflation and steady economic growth—allowed stocks and bonds to flourish in a way that won’t be possible moving forward.

President Biden: ‘There’s Going To Be A New World Order And The U.S. Will Lead It’

Daily Caller: Biden: ‘There’s Going To Be A New World Order’

President Joe Biden said Monday there would be “a new world order” established and led by the United States while speaking at a roundtable to discuss Russia’s war on Ukraine and the economy.

“You know we are at an inflection point, I believe, in the world economy — not just the world economy, in the world. Occurs every three or four generations,” Biden said. “As one of the top military people said to me in a security meeting the other day, 60 million people died between 1900 and 1946, and since then, we’ve established a liberal world order and that hadn’t happened in a long while.”

U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo: President Trump Is Building A New World Order

ABC News Online: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says Donald Trump is building a 'new liberal order'

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says President Donald Trump is not "abandoning American leadership" around the world, and is in fact building a "new liberal order that prevents war".

Mr Pompeo is in Brussels for talks among foreign ministers at NATO, where its European members have been criticised by Mr Trump for failing to spend enough on their own defence and relying too much on Washington.

But the Trump administration has also come under fire in-turn from these allies, having voiced their concerns over the US's commitment to the alliance.

Will China And Russia Build A New World Order?

Wesley Rahn, DW: What will keep China and Russia from building a new world order?

Russia and China are forming closer economic and strategic relations in the face of increasing pressure from Washington. Although a Sino-Russian bloc sounds ominous to the West, there are big obstacles to an alliance.

Russia's geopolitical show in eastern Siberia this week with special guest China combined a dramatic display of military hardware with diplomatic trappings, summit pageantry and an executive-level cooking show.

In two separate events - the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) being held in Vladivostok and the Vostok (East) 2018 military games - Russia and China signaled to the West that they are working closer together to counterbalance US "unilateralism."

Former U.S. Secretaries Of State Kissinger, Shultz, And Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage Warn Congress That The 'World Order' Is Eroding

Stars And Stripes: Kissinger warns senators of 'systemic failure of world order'

WASHINGTON — Three former high-ranking State Department officials warned a Senate panel on Thursday that the United States is facing potential, catastrophic confrontations as global order erodes.

The United States is now in a national security race against time to prepare for the growing global destabilization, said the former secretaries, who have served under generations of presidents.

“The international situation facing the United States is unprecedented,” Henry Kissinger, the iconic former secretary of state, said in testimony to the Senate Armed Services Committee. This is “more than a coincidence of individual crisis across various geographies. Rather, it is a systemic failure of world order.”

President talks of ‘great chemistry’ with China’s president in Journal interview

President Donald Trump was expansive on Wednesday about his relationship with a world leader he has gotten to know since taking office.

“We have a very good relationship,” he said in a Wall Street Journal interview in the Oval Office. “We have a great chemistry together. We like each other. I like him a lot. I think his wife is terrific.”

The leader who came in for those warm words? Chinese President Xi Jinping.

It’s safe to say very few people saw that coming. China was, as much as any country, the target of Trump broadsides during the 2016 presidential campaign—for not playing fair in the world economy, for taking advantage of the U.S., for stealing American business, for intimidating its neighbors.

Chinese President Xi Calls for Russia-China ‘New World Order’ To Counter The U.S. And NATO

© REUTERS/ Kim Kyung-Hoon

Sputnik: Beijing Blasts ‘American Aggression,’ Calls for Russia-China ‘New World Order’

As the United States and Europe embark on an increasingly hawkish policy towards China, Beijing has moved to welcome the formation of an alliance with Russia to counter NATO.

Speaking at the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party last month, Xi Jinping delivered what Western analysts are calling an "incendiary speech" in which he called for a military union with Russia that would render NATO "powerless" and "put an end to the imperialist desires of the West."

The harsh statements come at a time when both Beijing and Moscow find themselves vulnerable to an increasingly hawkish US foreign policy that has resulted in a series of massive war games on both countries’ doorstep and the placement of missile shields in strategic quadrants to limit the ability of both Russia and China to defend themselves if conflict were ever to ensue.
