BORIS Johnson is on course for an election landslide tonight after the exit polls tipped the Tories to win a whopping 368 seats.

Seconds after the polls closed at 10pm a joint poll put the Conservatives on track for a huge win, with Labour trailing behind on 191.

The expected results mean Britain's political chaos could finally be over, leaving Boris with the numbers to push his Brexit deal through Parliament in weeks.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Corbyn will be facing deafening calls to finally quit as Labour leader after failing to win a second general election in a row - and seeing Labour to its worst defeat since 1983 under Michael Foot.

And it would put Britain on course for the biggest Tory win since 1987 - where they got a 102 seat majority under Margaret Thatcher.

  * Polling stations are open from 7am until 10pm, when an exit poll will give the first indication of the results
  * Boris Johnson voted in Westminster at around 8am and Jeremy Corbyn in Islington expected at 9.30am
  * Results in key seats are expected from 2am tomorrow and the next PM should be known by 6am Friday

A new poll today gave a last-minute boost to Boris Johnson on the eve of the general election - putting the Tories on course to win a majority.

But Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party are still gaining ground with just hours to go until the nation votes, according to the survey conducted by Opinium between December 10-11.

It puts the Tories on 45 per cent overall, down one point on the company's work published last week.

Labour is up two points in the poll to 33 per cent, giving the Tories a 12 point lead as Britain prepares to go to the ballot box.

Martin Baxter's Electoral Calculus Model estimates a Tory majority of 46 based on opinion polls from 02 Dec 2019 to 07 Dec 2019, sampling 10,827 people.

I arrive at 10,827 by discarding the Savanta ComRes poll highlighted in yellow.

Baxter did not discard that poll out of bias but rather because there were two overlapping polls by the same pollster and he used the most recent one.

I calculated the averages excluding Opinium because Opinium looks silly in relation to everything else. The net effect is to toss the highest and lowest and keep average the rest. This is a frequently used method to discard outliers.

LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party is on course to win a parliamentary majority of 38 seats in Thursday’s election, according to a new poll, the Sunday Times’ political editor reported.

A Datapraxis poll, using the multilevel regression and post-stratification (MRP) model, predicted that the Conservatives would win 344 seats, with the opposition Labour Party taking 221, the Times’s Tim Shipman said on Twitter.

Business Insider: Boris Johnson's Conservatives are heading for a huge victory over Labour, according to the polling model which correctly forecast Theresa May would lose her majority

* Boris Johnson is on course for a big majority in the general election, according to the polling model that accurately predicted the outcome of the 2017 election.
* The Conservatives would win 359 seats, Labour 211, the SNP 43, and the Lib Dems 13, YouGov's MRP model suggested.
* The result would give Johnson a majority of 68 as he made big gains at Labour's expense, particularly in the Midlands and north of England.
* However, only a relatively modest swing in the other direction would trigger another hung parliament.

Boris Johnson's Conservatives are set for a crushing general election win over Labour on December 12, according to the polling model which accurately predicted the outcome of the 2017 vote.

Even though I am an outsider, my gut tells me that almost everyone voter in the U.K. has alrady made up their mind, and Boris Johnson is going to have a huge majority after December 12 with a clear mandate for Brexit.

Reuters: UK PM Johnson's Conservatives have highest support since 2017: polls

LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party have the highest level of support since 2017, according to opinion polls published on Saturday.

The Dec. 12 election was called to end three years of disagreement over Brexit that has sapped investors’ faith in the stability of the world’s fifth largest economy and damaged Britain’s standing since it voted in a 2016 referendum to leave the European Union.

Johnson, 55, hopes to win a majority to push through the last-minute Brexit deal he struck with the EU last month after the bloc granted a third delay to the divorce that was originally supposed to take place on March 29. Voters in 2016 referendum narrowly voted in favor of leaving the EU.

Johnson’s Conservatives lead Labour by 10-17 percentage points, four polls published on Saturday show.

The Brexit Party has announced that it will not stand candidates in the 317 seats won by the Conservatives at the 2017 general election.

Party leader Nigel Farage said standing candidates across the country could increase the chances of another EU referendum taking place.

But he said the party would stand against all other parties - and focus on taking seats off Labour.

It had vowed to stand more than 600 candidates. The Commons has 650 seats.

Launched in April, the Brexit Party does not hold any Commons seats - but the party was the clear winner in the UK's European elections in May.

Boris Johnson's uncertain start to the Election campaign has not harmed his party's poll ratings, with the Conservatives maintaining their 12-point lead from last week.

The party's early 'wobble' – with gaffes such as Jacob Rees-Mogg suggesting that victims of the Grenfell Tower inferno should have ignored fire brigade advice to stay in the building – has not hit their support.

Their headline figure is 41 per cent, with Labour on 29 per cent – both up one percentage point from last week – with the Liberal Democrats up two points on 16 per cent.

Fears have been raised that Britain could be frozen out of the 'Five Eyes' spy alliance if Jeremy Corbyn becomes PM.

Concerns are mounting in Whitehall that the flow of intelligence sharing between the UK, US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand could dry up due to a lack of trust in the Labour leader.

Mr Corbyn has been accused of undermining the Trident nuclear deterrent - which Labour in theory is meant to back - by admitting he would never use it.

There are also claims that Mr Corbyn's closest aides could be blocked from seeing top secret material in Downing Street due to links with Russia and the hard Left.
