UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace And Foreign Secretary Liz Truss Say Russia Should Be Pushed Out Of 'The Whole Of Ukraine' - Including Crimea

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace says the UK is 'supporting Ukraine's sovereign integrity... which includes Crimea'

SKY News: Ukraine war: Ben Wallace backs Liz Truss and says Russia should be pushed out of 'the whole of Ukraine' - including Crimea

Both Ms Truss and Mr Wallace's remarks imply that the UK government believes Russian forces must leave not just the territory occupied since the current invasion at the end of February, but also areas they occupied and annexed previously.

Ben Wallace has reinforced Liz Truss' view that Russian forces must be pushed out of "the whole of Ukraine" - and suggested this should include Crimea.

Speaking at an event at Mansion House on Wednesday evening, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said Western allies, including the UK, must "double down" and "keep going further and faster" to "push Russia out of the whole of Ukraine".

Asked on Sky News if Ms Truss was referring to Crimea, which was invaded and annexed by Russia back in 2014, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace replied: "Well, the international community believes Russia should leave Ukraine.

WNU Editor: Both UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace And Foreign Secretary Liz Truss do not understand the region. Case in point. Before the war Foreign Secretary Liz Truss called for the removal of Russian forces from the Rostov region, a region that has been in Russia proper for almost 1,000 years .... Nine Russian warships have been monitored by the Royal Navy as they sailed in waters around the UK in the past two weeks.

The ships have included a surfaced submarine, a destroyer, a corvette and a patrol ship along with their supporting tugs and supply ships travelling in the English Channel, Celtic Sea and the west coast of Scotland.

First Sea Lord Admiral Tony Radakin said: “This is why the Royal Navy is at sea every day, protecting the UK and our interests. “Even with the pressures of Covid, we remain at short notice to respond to threats both in home waters and around the world.

U.K. Foreign Secretary Says Russia Interfered In The 2019 UK Election

BBC: 'Almost certain' Russians sought to interfere in 2019 UK election - Raab

Russians almost certainly sought to interfere in the 2019 UK general election through illicitly acquired documents, the government has said.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said any attempt to meddle in UK democracy was "completely unacceptable".

The documents - on UK-US trade discussions - emerged online and were used by Labour in the 2019 campaign.

A much-delayed report into allegations of wider Russian interference into UK democracy is due next week.

Labour said it condemned "any attempt by Russia, or any foreign power, to interfere in our country's democratic processes" and pledged to work to protect the nation's security.

WNU Editor: Apparently this is the interference that Russia is responsible for .... UK says Russia sought to interfere in 2019 election by spreading documents online (The Guardian). My response is .... maybe it was leaked by someone within the government. Bottom line. There is no evidence that Russia was responsible for this leak.

U.K. Now Claiming Russia Offered Taliban Fighters Bounties To Attack British Troops

SKY News: Russia offered Taliban-linked fighters bounties to attack British troops - as senior Tory MP seeks answers

The group responsible for the payments is the same Russian intelligence outfit behind the Skripal poisonings, Sky News is told.

A senior Conservative MP is seeking an urgent question in the Commons on Monday about an alleged plot that a Russian intelligence unit offered Taliban-linked fighters bounties to kill coalition troops in Afghanistan.

British security officials have confirmed to Sky News that the reports about the plot are true.

If Tobias Ellwood, chair of the House of Commons Defence Select Committee, is granted his urgent question, it will require a government minister to respond in person.

Mr Ellwood told Sky News: "I think it's completely unacceptable that a fellow permanent member of the UN Security Council is now seen to be training and supplying arms to the very militia that has prevented peaceful conclusions to this decade-old conflict (in Afghanistan).

"So serious is this that I'll be seeking an urgent question on Monday and will be encouraging the UK to raise this matter at the UN and indeed our NATO allies."

WNU Editor: The problem with the above SKY News claim is that they do not mention that there has been no UK combat casualties in Afghanistan since 2015, and the reason why is that they left Afghanistan that year .... UK military and civilian fatalities during the Afghanistan War from October 7, 2001 to March 29, 2019 (Statista). If Russia was paying bounties in the past few years, they got a zero return on their monies.

Update: There are U.K. soldiers in Afghanistan serving as trainers .... Up to 1,100 British troops in Afghanistan could be home within just over a year after US-Taliban peace deal (Daily Mail).
