Hundreds of powerful US “bunker-buster” bombs are being shipped from California to the British island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean in preparation for a possible attack on Iran.
The Sunday Herald can reveal that the US government signed a contract in January to transport 10 ammunition containers to the island. According to a cargo manifest from the US navy, this included 387 “Blu” bombs used for blasting hardened or underground structures.

The article is overboard...

BLU-110 is just a version of the Mk83 GP bomb with Navy spec safety explosives.
The BLU-117 is just a Navy safety spec version of the 2000lb Mk84 GP bomb. Not to be confused with a Penetrator of that size called a BLU-109 that has a forged steel shell. Has moderate penetration but is not a "bunker buster" like a GBU-37 or similar.
The BlU-110 and BLU-117 are not smart until they have a Paveway Kit or JDAM kit mated to them.
Diego always has a lot of weapons to support B-52, B-1 missions to Afghanistan and B-2 ops when needed.
So the article is sensationalism run amok on the topic of bomb stuff.

I agree with your assessment Eric. 99% of the news coverage on this story is sensationalism .... but if there was an intent to make the Iranians take notice .... which is probably was the intent .... this news story has been successful.
As well they should, I'm more in favor of a low yield nuke behind the bunker buster cap and we do have new elections coming up.
