Mosul Seized: Jihadis Loot $429m from City's Central Bank to Make Isis World's Richest Terror Force -- IBTimes

The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Shams (Isis) has become the richest terror group ever after looting 500 billion Iraqi dinars - the equivalent of $429m (£256m) - from Mosul's central bank, according to the regional governor.

Nineveh governor Atheel al-Nujaifi confirmed Kurdish televison reports that Isis militants had stolen millions from numerous banks across Mosul. A large quantity of gold bullion is also believed to have been stolen.

Following the siege of the country's second city, the bounty collected by the group has left it richer than al-Qaeda itself and as wealthy as small nations such as Tonga, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands and the Falkland Islands.

Well they now have money, weapons, and people. Now, whether they realize it or not they can no longer be just a "paramilitary terror" organization. The things they must address soon.
1) Can they be an army?
2) Can they govern?
3) And last but not least, can they
withstand Irani interference
and/or direct inervention?
In the mean time it looks likely Baghdad is going to fall.
Internationally things to consider:
1) A significant percentage of the world's crude oil production is either controlled (Iraq, Iran, Libya) or under direct military threat (UAR, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait) by forces hostile to the West.
2) Introduction of jihadist terrorism in the West by returning natives.
3) I'm sure there's more that I haven't thought of, this is just a start.

I forgot to add Venezuela to the first list and Nigeria (soon) to the second.

I was thinking about the oil price this afternoon James. What's happening in places like Iraq/Libya/Venezuela .... it will impact the price of gas at the pump .... and in the end our economies. What I am surprised about is the lack of news coverage on a story that is going to be a very big story if this countries continue to implode.
