MI6 has pulled its spies out of 'hostile countries' and America's intelligence agencies are on high alert after Russia and China cracked encrypted files leaked by fugitive whistleblower Edward Snowden.
The top-secret documents contain information that could lead to the identification of British and American spies, according to senior officials in Downing Street, the Home Office and the security services.

I have trouble believing any of these people. The only thing that could possibly said of the Snowden affair (unless you had deep inside knowledge) is that the Russians and Chinese put some type of value on him or they wouldn't have helped him. Also the US's actions in all of this (at least the public ones)is very curious.
Really the possibilities involved here are endless. Is the Snowden affair a cover for Chinese/Russian penetration of US intelligence or are the recent revelations a cover for the Snowden affair?
I just told my mother and girlfriend over breakfast the same thing James. I do not like seeing US secrets being spilled .... but I also do not like what those secrets have revealed. Bottom line .... the U.S. is more focused on watching us than on watching the rest of the world.
Not sure about the "us" part, but keep in mind that, while the idea for the 9/11 attack was hatched abroad, the work-up was done in the US.
